Monday Morning Memo - Week 21
1/28/19
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Observations (Unannounced and Announced)
I will be conducting many unannounced observations over the next couple of months. Unannounced observations for all tenured teachers and announced observations for all probationary teachers which will be their second observation for the year.
I'm really looking forward to being able to spend more time inside of classrooms to see all of the amazing learning taking place and providing feedback to build on success. This is the most important work a principal can do. Please understand that I will need your support throughout this process to make sure we complete the cycle in a timely manner as we discussed in the beginning of the year. Consequently, I will be less available for other important matters but wanted you to know there are plenty of avenues for us to communicate.
I'm asking that less pressing matters be emailed to me and I will do my best to respond within 24 hours. Additionally, if there is something you'd like to discuss in person, please schedule times with Cindy or Rachel.
I want to make sure I'm giving each and every person the time they deserve to continue developing their craft and best support the learning occur in our classrooms. Thank you for your support and cooperation!
Blue Ribbon Committee
As many of you know the district is required to present reconfiguration options to the Board of Education due to declining enrollment across the district. They are bringing back the Blue Ribbon Committee to begin developing options for the board to vote on at a future date. I've been asked to serve on this committee and have accepted. I will be sure to report the updates from the Blue Ribbon Committee at our upcoming PLC and Staff Meetings. The first Blue Ribbon Committee is scheduled to be held this Thursday, January 31st. I can imagine this brings on a certainly level of anxiety uncertainty about the future. Please know I'm happy to meet with you individually to share what I know about the process.
Stacking Chairs
Kyle and James appreciate the feedback you've provided over the last couple of weeks. They have taken that feedback and devised up a plan that will allow for our classrooms and offices to be thoroughly cleaned (mopping, dusting, tables, etc) in a steady rotation. They have asked for your help in ensuring that student chairs are stacked and placed in the back of the room so they may sweep up effectively. This simple adjustment allows for them to maximize their time while ensuring our learning spaces are ready for students the following day.
Thanks for your help!
Your Fan,
Ali

Nuts and Bolts - Updated 1/28/19
Cluster/Magnet Nomination Form
1st-4th Grade Teachers,
The magnet/cluster nomination process has moved to an online version. Here are some highlights of what you need to know moving forward:
- You should have received a hard copy list of students whose parents submitted a recommendation in your mailbox. There is also a copy of this information in your schools shared nomination google drive along with some other helpful documents that may be useful as you complete your nominations.
- You need to fill out forms for every parent nomination even if you do not agree with what the parent is nominating the student for.
- If there are other students in your classroom that were not nominated by their parents but you feel they may be showing some exceptional growth/potential, please feel free to nominate them.
- Your F&P scores and your GPW sample (which are only submitted for Magnet or ELA cluster nominations) MUST be from January testing.
- Please be sure to include the students name, grade, building and teacher name on the GPW sample you submit (you will still scan and email the writing sample as has been done in the past. Directions on who to send writing samples to are included in the online nomination form)
- All electronic nominations will be due by Tuesday, February 12th. At that time you will no longer be able to access the document to nominate a student. The online form will be coming this morning to your email.
Please direct questions regarding the nomination process to either Pam or Ann.
Pam Liagre 4523 (planning 8:40-9:25)
Ann Passino 5584 (planning 2:45-3:20)
Magnet Program Co-Coordinators
- Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
