The Weekly Roar

See you again...
It is with a heavy heart that I am typing my last newsletter for this school year. It really feels like it was just August, and I was meeting all of you for the first time. Hard to believe that the end of our time together is in a few short days.
This has been a wonderful year with your kids! The welcome from all of you has been a blessing. I want you to know how amazing your children are. I've watched them grow and mature since August, and they are so ready for middle school, both academically and socially. We have listened to many songs, and watched many inspirational videos this year for writing, and many of them have shared their journals along the way. WOW! Their writings, their thoughts, feelings and outlook on things, has impressed me so much. So many times I was excited about the video or song we were going to listen to and the lesson I was hoping they were going to get from it, and then I would read their journals and I was the one who was learning. Feelings, strength, kindness, perseverance, acceptance, family, friends, sports, loss, and so much more. These are just a few of the things I learned from their beautiful writings.
We have learned together all year, and for that I am beyond thankful. They have made me a better teacher, and I am very grateful for every day that we had together. They gave 110% each day, and most of the time went over and beyond what was asked or expected of them.
I have been dreading this day and upcoming week for the past few weeks. My mind is prepared, and I'm so excited for the next step they will be taking in their journey, but I can tell you that my heart is not ready. They have shown me their hearts and their bravery and what it means to stand by the people you care about, so although my heart is hurting, we have one last walk to take together this Thursday.
It has been a true joy and blessing to have been your child's teacher, but to also have learned from them this year. We discovered that we are all teachers and learners, and we all have something to contribute.
I wish each and every one of you a wonderful and restful summer. Enjoy every minute you have with these precious kids!
I hope your kids continue to ROAR, dance like no one is watching, stay connected to their inner child, take chances and when they feel doubted, I hope they make everyone, WATCH THEM!
Always With Love And A ROAR,
Ms. Ferrier
