Congratulations, City of Beech Grove!
Indianapolis – Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb and the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) announce the City of Beech Grove as the newest member of the Indiana Main Street (IMS) Program. The program encourages economic development, redevelopment and improvement to the downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns.
“It continues to impress me that so many communities are putting in the time and hard work to become an Indiana Main Street community,” said Lt. Governor Holcomb. “Beech Grove is the 120th Indiana community to receive this designation which they have more than earned through all their restoration and revitalization efforts to make their city a great place to live.”
Next Stop, Beech Grove is a non-profit organization that strives to revitalize and promote their community’s cultural history, while encouraging growth, historic preservation and sustainability. The organization consist of 15 board and committee members who oversee four committees: Design, Economic Vitality, Organization and Promotion.
“Beech Grove’s status as a Main Street community brings new opportunities for growth and economic development,” said Dennis Buckley, Mayor of the City of Beech Grove. “Community leaders, building owners and business owners now have access to one of the nation’s largest networks of downtown revitalization professionals.”
The Main Street Program, administered by OCRA, is founded on a four-point approach to downtown development: organization, design, promotion and economic vitality. Beech Grove, along with 119 other Indiana Main Street communities, work towards these four aspects of their downtowns in order to focus on restoration and revitalization efforts within their communities.
