Can't Hide Our Hound Pride!

Howdy Hounds!

Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you to everyone that joined us for our Veteran's Day program on Thursday night. A special thank you to those that has served our country. We are proud of our fifth graders for their hard work and thankful to Dr. Kim for her dedication to the program.

We are looking forward to celebrating parents during Parent Involvement Week. If you have not had a chance, please be sure to RSVP to our Picnic with Parents here. Please note that we are monitoring the weather carefully. In the event that the weather is not conducive to an outdoor picnic, we will shift to an indoor picnic in the gym. We encourage all parents to bring a blanket or towel so that you and your child have a something to sit on for the celebration.

Please remember that it is early dismissal on Friday. School will be dismissed at 11:30am. Also, there is no school the week of November 21st due to the Thanksgiving Break.

Have a great weekend....bring on the cooler weather!

Sincerely,

Bethany Cunningham

Morning Drop Off Reminders

Having students in the classrooms by 7:30am is essential for teaching and learning. We start Hound Time promptly at 7:30, which is when our students receive their necessary interventions and enrichment activities. To ensure the safety of students and families that arrive late, we will close the drop off line at 7:30. Please note that if your student arrives in the building after 7:30, he or she will be counted tardy. Once the drop off line is closed, vehicles will need to go up to Huggins Drive, turn right and enter the parking lot. Parents/guardians will need to park and escort their child into the building, utilizing the cross walk. Cars should exit the parking lot the same way they entered to avoid driving near the crosswalk. We will have the parking area near the crosswalk coned off to prevent cars from driving through the crosswalk. The sole purpose of this process is to ensure the safety of our students. Staff members enter the building at 7:30 to begin teaching, which means we do not have individuals on duty to escort students that are tardy. Additionally, we cannot have any cars park in the fire lane when walking their children into school. Please remember that this procedure is only used after 7:30am. Parents are not permitted to park and walk their students into school before 7:30am, as it creates a safety concern when we have pedestrians crossing our car line. The parking lot will be closed until 7:30 to prevent cars from entering. As a reminder, we strongly encourage all vehicles to utilize Charger Way and arrive to Huggins by heading south on Katy-Fulshear Road to ensure you are following the traffic pattern. This will help ensure you are easily able to turn onto Huggins Drive when the drop off line is closed at 7:30am.

Huggins Dress Code

Starting with the 22-23 school year, students at Huggins Elementary will not be required to follow a uniform policy. All students must comply with the LCISD Dress Code, as outlined in the Elementary Student Handbook. We encourage all students to wear purple for Charger Thursday, in support of our Fulshear Chargers. We also encourage students to participate in Huggins Spirit Day on Fridays by wearing Huggins shirts and/or red!
