where our community is committed to following
the teachings of Jesus.
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the new school year, it is always great to see the children back at school with excitement on their faces, and lots of stories to tell about their interesting and adventurous holidays.
There is a whole range of emotions coming back to school for the staff as well, particularly this year with the conclusion of our capital development programme. There is a genuine sense of relief and accomplishment that we have achieved stage 1 of the proposed development here at Our Lady of Fatima. We now enjoy utilising the new facilities and start to have conversation about what needs to happen next to continue to enhance the learning environment for the children. We too, have felt a sense of excitement with the new buildings and it was great to see the look on the children’s faces as they walked into the new hall before recess on the first day and when they come up to see us in the new administration area.
All those emotions have been mixed with the sense of despair and devastation that many fellow Australians are experiencing with the horrific bushfires over many parts of the country, particularly the eastern seaboard. As a community, we will endeavour to spend some time with the children fundraising to support these fellow Australians, a process which will be led by our student leaders. This will be a tangible way we can enable the children in our community to feel as if they are able to contribute towards helping the people who have been affected.
We have also experienced a sense of fear and uncertainty regarding the development of the Coronavirus through mainland China and Hong Kong. I am receiving daily updates from our head office describing the action plan as a school, as far as members of our community returning from these areas are concerned. There remains a 14 day quarantine period and again I ask that if you have any queries or concerns about this, please email me directly at: Paul.Hansen@cewa.edu.au.
This edition of our school newsletter provides some pertinent information regarding some important things happening at Our Lady of Fatima, as we embark on the 2020 school year.
