MASK UPDATE

Per ODE’s and OHA’s updated guidance, we will return to the mask guidance we began the school year with. Face coverings are now optional in our district’s outdoor school settings and at all outdoor school-related events. Masks are still required indoors.

WHAT HAPPENS ON STAFF TRAINING DAYS WHEN MY STUDENT ISN'T IN SCHOOL?

As a school, staff are working with our students to provide opportunities for students to write across all content areas. We have a school wide goal of working with our students to improve their ability to write a several paragraph essay. Prior to the break, students were given an opportunity to pick a prompt (there were 4) and write three paragraphs. On Monday, Nov 29th Baker Prairie staff was busy scoring the student’s writing. Each paper was read by two different staff members. We will use the data we gather to inform our writing instruction across the school. Students will continue to write throughout the year and will have another opportunity to have their writing scored so we can compare their data from their November writing to the piece of writing they do later in the year.

SAFEOREGON

We are excited to announce that the SafeOregon app will be available on all student iPads starting this week.

SafeOregon is a 24-hour anonymous tip-line individuals can use if they see or hear about instances of bullying, violence, threats, drug use, suicidal thoughts and more. The goal is to keep students safe by preventing threats from coming to fruition.

There are a number of ways to report, including:

  • Texting or calling 844-4-SAFE-OR (844-472-3367)

  • Emailing tip@safeoregon.com

Attendance/Sick Students/Appointments

We have processes in place to help us track students in the event of illness or an early departure from school. If a student is sick during class, they should let their teacher know and then go to the main office. Our staff will take them to the health room and check them out and contact the family for pick up if needed. If a student needs to be excused for an appointment or any other reason, please notify our main office at 503.263.7170 as soon as possible. When you arrive at the school please call and we will call your student down. This allows the student to not miss instruction while waiting in the office.
