This year, we will offer 1.5 hour shift opportunities. You will be able to sign-up as often, or as little, as you are able! See you at the Book Fair!!
World Kindness Day
Every day is Kindness Day if you’re a Brookwood Elementary Bobcat!!! However, did you know there’s an official World Kindness Day on November 13? We have some great news to share as we are super excited to announce that Jordyn's Summer Shirt Project is partnering with Brookwood to share the BE KIND TO EVERYONE message, while simultaneously helping us raise money for our school’s educational grants.
How do you order awesome BE KIND TO EVERYONE apparel & other goodies? Simply go to www.bekindtoeveryone.com and place orders with the code “Brookwood” (the code is case sensitive). Please note that all orders must be placed by November 9 to arrive in time for World Kindness Day. A special thank you to Jordyn’s Summer Shirt Project as they will donate 25% back to our school for educational grants. What a great opportunity for everyone to stock up on fantastic apparel and gifts, and also to share this amazing link with family and friends!
The Place Holiday House - A Place of Joy
In a few short months, the air will be filled with smells of the holidays and the atmosphere will carry feelings of merriment, good wishes, and joy. For many in the Forsyth County area, however, the Holiday season is met with stress, fear, and sadness. As these parents work to make it day-to-day, Christmas morning is simply an expense they cannot afford.
Last year, The Place Holiday House helped these parents provide Christmas joy for over 2,000 children. We hope you'll let The Place Holiday House be your PURPOSE this holiday season. To see what you can do to help, simply click https://bit.ly/2qmSmqr

Teacher of the Year & Staff of the Year Luncheon
Last Friday, we celebrated our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Chavarry, and Support Staff Member of the Year, Ms. Oquendo, with an amazing lunch in their honor for all teachers and staff! This fun luncheon also kicked off our year-long Teacher Appreciation theme of “Our Teachers are the BEST in the World!”. What a fitting theme for Brookwood Elementary this year as these two teachers, along with the entire Brookwood Elementary staff, truly are the BEST in the World!
Thank you to City Barbeque for continuing to be an amazing partner, donating, yet again, a delicious lunch that the entire staff truly enjoyed! A big thank you to Walmart Supercenter Cumming-Peachtree Pkwy for donating the incredibly beautiful and tasty cake! Many, many, many BIG thanks to Chateau Elan for donating and presenting to Ms. Chavarry and Ms. Oquendo, the generous gift of a night away to relax and unwind. We couldn’t love on our staff, the way that we do, without the support of our amazing community partners.Congratulations to these AWESMAZINGteachers!

We are thrilled to present SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age, a documentary about the biggest parenting issue of our time.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that happening with her own kids and began a quest to uncover how it might impact their development. As with her other two award-winning documentaries on mental health, Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance.
SCREENAGERS addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time head on—depicting teen struggles over social media, video games and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it.
Family Connect Nights!
Brookwood works with our middle and high school feeder schools to have a combined Family Connect Night once a month. This night is designed to put down homework and connect as a family. Some great ideas are to try something new, cook dinner together, have a puzzle night, game night, go for a walk or anything where you change up your routine and be in the moment! Be on the lookout for how we will post pics of your awesome Family Night!
