Bring Your Own Device
Bay Middle School is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) school. Students are permitted to bring their own devices (tablets, cell phones, laptops, etc.) to use for academic purposes. Teachers will determine when BYOD devices may be used during classes. Examples of use may be for collaborating on a research project, completing photo/video projects, accessing the student portal, using web 2.0 tools, and participating in online collaboration and discussion.
Troubleshooting Devices at BCMS
When you cannot get connected to the GCPS network, who do I call?
- Time limit for troubleshooting devices that are not working has a three to four minutes
to resolve the issue. - Check the device settings.
Always check the owner’s manual or the “Help” menu for directions on how to access
a wireless network.- Troubleshoot the link.
- Ask a classmate for help.
- Check with the assigned “classroom tech expert” for help.
- Ask the teacher.
IMPORTANT TECH NOTES
- Charging personal devices are prohibited in the school.
Laptops are not allowed to face away from the teacher’s view. When students hear “flip,” they automatically have to flip their device toward the teacher to show on task (or off task) behavior.

(For example: YYYYMMDD!)Add a shortcut on your home screen to eCLASS.
EARBUDS - Students are to bring their earbuds to school each day in attendance.
No printing allowed from the student-owned devices. Save to your eClass course page, email the document to yourself or save it to a flash drive.
