COUNSELORS CORNER
Did you know??? Self care is not just eating right and getting exercise...it's about taking care of the entire self. Too often, we fail to make self care a priority, but it's important and a goal to take better care of yourself is an excellent way to prepare yourself to get through tough days.
Entering the 4th quarter means we enter one of the busiest sections of the school year with finals, State exams, AP exams, clinicals, concerts, plays, graduation and more...and all of this on top of already busy schedules. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, especially when we think we are falling behind, or coming up short. Make sure you are getting the rest/self care you need, in EVERY area. Not sure what you can do? Here are some ideas for making sure you are fully cared for:
- Physical Rest: better sleep habits, take a nap, deep breathing, relaxation, stretching
- Mental Rest: Music, silence, meditation/mindfulness
- Emotional Rest: talking to a friend or therapist, journaling (writing or art)
- Social Rest: Catching up with a good friend OR taking a short break from conversation
- Creative Rest: read a book, take a walk, go for a hike, create something (baking, art, music, crafting)
- Spiritual Rest: do something that gives you a sense of purpose or meaning
- Sensory Rest: turn off devices and screens, find the quiet
