ALL CCSC SCHOOLS CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 30, 2020.
It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!
eLearning Days and School Closures
This has been a wild race to spring, with information changing moment by moment regarding the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. Crawfordsville Schools will be closed and have 5 eLearning days March 16-20, 2020.
CCSC has put together a comprehensive eLearning plan in preparation for this closure.
Students will be able to access their daily lessons by 9:00 AM each day. Hoover eLessons will be emailed to parents via school messenger and posted daily on Class DoJo. Students have all been provided with their login information. Teachers will be available to answer questions electronically throughout the day.
NO DEVICE AT HOME?
If you have access to the internet, but do not own a device, laptops are available for parents to borrow. Parents will need to sign a user-agreement before borrowing a laptop during the closure. Laptop check out is available at Crawfordsville Middle School until 3:00 PM on Friday, March 13 and on Monday, March 16 from 8-3.
Students without internet access or a device will be provided with packets of paper lessons to complete in the event of a school closure.
Students will be counted as present for school when they complete the activities online or turn in the completed paper packet work to their teachers once school resumes. Students working off paper will have 2 days following each closure day to complete packet work.
STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE SPECIAL SERVICES
If your student is in high ability, receives special education, or ELL services, your child's special services teacher will be available for extra help or to assist with making work accommodations as needed.
For assistance during any future closures, email or Class DoJo message your child's teacher. You may also call the school office, but please keep in mind we may be receiving a high volume of messages. Please leave a detailed messaged, and we will return calls in the order they were received.
NOT FEELING WELL?
If your student isn't feeling well, they should stay home. Please call the office by 8:30 AM to report the absence. Our office staff will be requesting a description of your student's symptoms. Students on attendance contracts will be considered "excused" without a doctor's note during the coronvirus pandemic if parents call in the absence and report any symptoms to the office.
COVID-19 Attendance Contract Exceptions:
If your student has the following symptoms, and they are currently on an attendance contract, their absences will be excused if parents call the office to report that their student has:
- Fever associated with dry cough, and shortness of breath
- Known exposure to someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
If you must make a transportation change, you need to call the school office at 362-2691 by 2:00 PM. Any transportation changes after 2:00 PM will not be permitted no matter the situation. Any changes for after school club transportation made after 2:00 PM will need to be directed to the Discovery phone at 376-3204. Teachers CANNOT accept any same day transportation changes through Class DoJo.
Notes from the Nurse
If your student has medications at school that will be needed during the school closure. Please contact the school nurse to arrange for pick-up.
This week I sent home the Final Notice for 5th grade students that did not pass their vision screening. A copy of this letter will be filed along with the failed vision screening in the student’s school record to show that there has been no follow up with an eye doctor. The state of Indiana requires that the school nurse file a report regarding vision screenings and referrals to an eye doctor since it is a state law that all fifth grade students must have a vision screening at school. If this information is incorrect, or if your student has been to the eye doctor and had an eye exam, please provide that information so that the record may be corrected. We do have free vouchers available that provide exams and select frames for students without insurance. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Cyr BSN, RN
