Supplies List...
...for Mrs. Schramm's Humanities Classes
Not Long Now!
Dear Rhoades Families,
As much as many of you would like to extend summer well past August, such is not the case. All you have to do is wander into Target to realize that Back-to-School is, well, back!
I am eager to meet my new seventh graders, and wanted to give you a heads up regarding what I would like your child to have in order to be well-outfitted to take on my classes. Please be aware that it will be Rhoades School policy (as well as good practice) for students to bring their own supplies to class. While you may not want to think about this, come September it will be two short school years (!) before your child heads off to high school, where no school supplies shall be forthcoming.
With that in mind, please go over the following lists.
Trip to the Office Supply Store!
This is what I would like your child to have on hand every time he or she comes into my classroom:
- A clearly labeled pencil pouch
- Pencils (plenty of these, please)
- A colored correcting pen (black does not count as a color)
- At least one highlighter pen
- A decent eraser (Magic Rub erasers are excellent)
- A traditional 7½ x 9¾-inch composition book (the typical black type, although I am not particular about color) that will serve as a writer’s notebook. Your child is welcome to customize this notebook as long as artistic flourishes do not impede upon the pages themselves
- Lined paper (8½ x 11 inches rather than 8 x 10 inches please)
- Either: Two 1 to 1½ inch binders OR One 2-inch binder with divider: one divider for Literature and one for Social Studies
At home, your child should have access to the following supplies:
- Colored pencils (a package of Crayola 50 colors is both cost- and color choice-effective)
- Glue sticks
- A stapler and staples
A Word About Printers (and Printing)
While I realize that we are moving closer to a printless society, we are not quite there yet. Several times during the year, your child will be asked to turn in printed assignments. To make sure that class time remains productive, I ask that students bring in printed work stapled and ready to turn in at the beginning of the period on the day that it is due.
Enjoy those last days of summer. I know that I plan to!
Yours,
