What is it?
Communication and collaboration just got cooler with MS Teams! Plano ISD faculty and staff now have the ability to use Teams to communicate with each other. Don't worry, we are still using Outlook email. Teams allows you to plan and create with colleagues in a shared workspace in which you can chat and share files. Use it as an instant messaging tool to chat quickly and easily (like texting) from any device. Make the most of its capabilities by installing it on your desktop computer, adding it to your Webdesk, and downloading it to your mobile device.
Staff Reminders
- Google absence/TEAMS on planned absences(Authorized School Business & Personal Days) – Those should be in the system as soon as they learn about it. Skaggs expectation is 4 days prior to absence.
- Classroom door windows: Tinting is coming soon for lockdown security. Door windows/blinds should be open at all times. If your blinds or windows are closed or covered, we want them open for visibility.
Teacher of the Year Voting
2020 Plano ISD Selection Criteria for Campus Teachers of the Year
Each school’s Teacher of the Year should meet all of these qualifications.
· Teachers must be assigned full-time classroom teaching duties.
· Teachers(all professional staff) must hold a valid Texas Teaching Certificate and be currently teaching.
· This is new: Teachers must have completed one year of teaching experience on the nominating campus and two years in the district. That would mean a campus start date no later December 11, 2018 and a district start date no later than December 11, 2017.
· Candidates should be skillful, dedicated teachers who plan to actively continue classroom teaching.
· Candidates should take an active role in their communities as well as their schools, demonstrate professional poise and be articulate.
- The Teacher of the Year candidate is an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable and skilled teacher.
- Inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn
- Have the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues
- Play an active and useful role in the community, as well as in the school
Be poised, articulate and possess the energy to withstand a taxing schedule

Safety Drill Reminders
If you are outside and need to come inside the building for a drill or safety reason, always come in the closest door and move to the nearest room with a door.

Ask any questions you might have about any situation!
