District Message About Birthday Treats
Because of food and labor shortages, our Nutrition Services department can no longer provide birthday treats after Friday, Sept. 17.
If you already ordered treats, we will be able to fill orders that were scheduled to go out this week. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we must cancel any birthday treat orders that were scheduled to go out on Monday, Sept. 20 or later. If you need a refund, please let us know.
Approved Birthday Treats:
We will start allowing families to send birthday treats if they want to do so, as long as they come from our list of treats that contain none of the major allergens.
Thank you for understanding that all classroom treats must come from this list, because we do not have the staff capacity to check for allergens that could threaten the health of some students.
Please bring birthday treats ahead of time (two hours after the start of school, at the latest).

Car Rider Procedure Reminders
- We need to form 2 lanes. This limits the traffic that is backed-up on Northwood Road. Please continue the 2 lanes around the full loop (staff directing car rider traffic should see 2 lanes in front and behind them). If cars are not forming 2 lanes, staff will help cars adjust, but this may change the order of the cars in line. Thank you for your patience!
- Use the passenger side for your child. This makes loading more efficient and safe.
- Teach your child to buckle/unbuckle independently.
- Follow staff directions and pull up when possible.

September Curriculum Connections
Check out the linked Curriculum Connections below to see what our Superstars will be working on in each subject area during the month of September! We want to share the learning topics at all of the grade levels so that you are familiar with what topics and content are taught this month! Your child's teacher is always happy to provide more details should you have questions!
Attendance By Grade-Level
Research shows a direct relationship between school attendance, academic achievement and success in school. The state’s Missouri School Improvement Plan (MSIP5) expectation for public school attendance is 90% or above. We are striving to ensure that at least 90% of students are here at least 90% of the time.
At the end of 1st quarter, we will share an update about the percentage of students who have met that goal by grade-level, but until then we will share the average attendance by grade-level each week.
Please note that although daily attendance is important for every child, one of the best ways to maximize students' time in school is by carefully monitoring symptoms and staying home when sick. Please help us keep our community safe by being cautious and staying away, even if you think an illness could be allergies. Nurse Cassie will be happy to help you talk through your symptoms. If your child is staying home due to a quarantine, please help them continue to engage in the schoolwork that their teachers assigns.
See below for the average attendance by grade-level from September 9 - September 16.
Kindergarten: 92.68%
1st Grade: 94.29%
2nd Grade: 94.11%
3rd Grade: 94.27%
4th Grade: 94.98%
5th Grade: 94.61%
School: 94.14%
This week we awarded 12,925 STAR Points!
This year we are working hard to recognize students for all the great things that they are doing. When staff notice students following our school PBIS expectations (Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Proactive, Be a Leader) they often award students a STAR Point.
Dad/Principal Pope Jokes
Kid: Why are you talking to yourself, Dad??
Dad: I needed an expert's advice.
What did one ocean say to the other? Nothing. They just waved.

Southeast Communication
You will find several ways to stay up to date on school activities on the Southeast website , Facebook, and newsletters from your child’s teacher. You will also occasionally get an automated email or voicemail message sent to you, by the school, with important information and reminders. We know two-way communication is best, so please feel free to call or email with any questions you may have regarding your child’s education.
