Valley updates for the week 10/11-10/15
AcademicsThere is no school on Monday, 10/11. Tuesday will be an 8 period day. Wednesday will be an ODD day. Thursday will be an EVEN day. Friday will be an 8 period day. IDs and masks are necessary to enter the building, and IDs to go through the lunch lines. Masks are to cover the mouth and nose. I neglected to include one student in last week's recognition of National Merit Semi-Finalists. Congratulations to Nate Connolly who is also a National Merit Semi-Finalist! After 8:20 AM, all doors lock and students and visitors will need to come through the North Main Entrance. It is against building policy to allow another student into the building through a door other than the North Main Entrance. Please make sure to check Infinite Campus and Canvas to stay up-to-speed with your child's progress. If you have questions for Infinite Campus access, contact Polly Maly at 633-4210. Food Bank of Iowa has created a challenge for Central Iowa schools to participate in raising money and food for hungry Iowans. Please consider contributing to this worthy cause by clicking on this link. Seniors who have not turned in their senior pictures, here is an important reminder. Beginning on Tuesday, October 19th, students will take part in a survey focusing on Social Emotional Learning to provide valuable data for our Student Support Team to better provide resources and support for students around the five SEL competencies. This will take place in Advisory and will take 20-25 minutes. Chess Club has resumed match play Tuesdays after school in the Media Center. Auditions for Bakers Dozen mime troupe is Tuesday, October 12th and Thursday, October 14th after school in the Drama room. Bring a one minute solo mime with music/sounds...and be prepared to perform an improv. Students who are interested in poetry, prose or artwork are encouraged to submit their work to Ms. Perry (perrye@wdmcs.org) for a chance to be featured in Valley's literary magazine, Ink. Prayer Club meets Friday morning at 7:20 AM in Mrs. Stanfel's room, 1607. Come for breakfast, fellowship and prayer. Join the Greenhouse Club in room 1329 the first and third Wednesdays of each month after school. |
