Freshman Orientation Night

I know many of you are still in denial, but your 8th-grade student will be entering high school in the fall. Freshman Orientation night is Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at Hermann High School. Mrs. Pazdera, the high school counselor, will present information about registration, Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAP), and the A+ program. High School students will also be available to give guided tours of the building.

ICAP/Freshman Schedule Work Night

Mrs. Pehle is planning a work night for any family interested in getting help with the Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP), formerly known as a four-year plan or personal plan of study, and schedule choices for the freshman year. Students and parents should plan on attending together, as Chromebook access is important to completing the ICAP. There will be a short presentation with tips for success followed by time to work with Mrs. Pehle. Please make plans to join us in the HMS Libray on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 5:30 p.m.

Please contact Mrs. Pehle if you have any questions about this.

Other Dates of Note

  • Typically, the 8th-grade class celebrates the end of their time here at HMS with a Cardinal game. Since we attended the career fair at Busch Stadium and a game this fall, we gave the class some other options. They voted to take a field trip to The Missouri State Penitentiary site and Highway Patrol Museum in Jefferson City. That trip is scheduled for May 14. Permission slips and additional information will be sent home when it gets closer.
  • We have not yet confirmed the date for 8th-Grade Celebration. Since we have had so many snow days, pushing it back is under consideration. We will confirm the date once we get through the month of February.
  • Mrs. Pazdera will present information about Freshman classes on February 12. Look for that information to come home that afternoon.
