The Battle of Iwo Jima was fought between the United States and Japan between February 19th and March 26th 1945. The battle took place in the Pacific Campaign of World War 2 and finished with the U.S. being victorious and gaining control of both the island and the Japanese airfields
This is the Lincoln memorial
The North wall of the monument contains an inscription of Lincoln's second inaugural speech. The South wall has the complete Gettysburg address inscribed on it Above the inscription is a mural depicting the angel of truth freeing a slave.
This is the Washington Monument.
The Washington Monument was created as a show of gratitude to George Washington in helping to create a new form of government espousing equal treament under the law.
