OER Update
Open Education News, Resources and Tips - April 2021
Spotlight On: LibreTexts
Their OER collection (curated texts, as well as 'remixes', modified versions of these basic texts), includes the following categories: Biology, Business, Chemistry, Engineering, Geosciences, Humanities, Mathematics, Medicine, Physics, Social Sciences, Spanish, Statistics, and some Vocational Technical titles.
Within each category you will find texts (including all of OpenStax's content!) curated by the LibreTexts development team, remixed, customized versions of those base texts (many of which are housed in the 'Campus Bookshelf' areas - collections specific to various campuses), and learning objects.
LibreTexts describes itself as able to offer powerful, advanced features, due to its web-based origins. These include embedded multimedia, dynamic figures, Jupyter (which allows the embedding of code right into the page to enhance student learning), the Hypothesis annotation overlay, and a page-level print-on-demand feature. A "one-minute import" feature exists to make it easy to import LibreTexts OER into the most common LMSes.
In addition, LibreTexts has an 'OER Remixer' function that (once an instructor account has been created) makes it possible to edit and remix content from the various LibreTexts collections to create a completely customized text.
LibreTexts periodically holds free, virtual, one-day intensive orientations to its platform ('LibreFests'). The next one will be on May 25th; registration appears to be closed, but you could try e-mailing Brent Krueger for more information. There will also be a LibreFest coming up the week of July 19th.
