Student Spotlight!
We would love to showcase and highlight your student and your family all year long from school activities, to playing outside or playing a sport, and even celebrating a birthday or family holiday.
If you would like to submit a picture of your child, please email Kelly Pruett at kpruett@okvirtual.org and we will add them to our newsletters each time.
Reminder: Log in to school every day!
As a reminder, students are expected to be schooling 5 days a week Monday-Friday. Even though we don't have live classes on Fridays, please make sure that your student is still logging in to their OLS account to complete any assignments that are on their daily plan for that day and to check for any emails or announcements from your homeroom teachers.

We will discuss your student’s report card, 2nd Quarter goals and strategies to increase academic gains this year.
Please view and read the Kindergarten Home Links document below. It is a great resource for schooling in Kindergarten.
Tutoring!
Tutoring is Available
Do you think tutoring would be helpful? We offer virtual tutoring. Students must actively attend live Class Connects to qualify for tutoring. If you are interested, you can apply through the Class Link in the OLS.
TGA: Teacher Graded Assignments
Each assignment is given two weeks to complete. The due date and the assignment rubric are listed on assignment, please be sure to read through the whole assignment.
Please do not try to complete these assignments in one day. The student's are given time to work on them over the two week period to help them develop skills and not be rushed to complete it. This two week period also allows you and your child to have practice time on the skill before they show mastery of it.
Missing TGA assignment's will lover your child's reading or math grade by a letter each nine weeks if they do not complete them. Please be sure to submit them on time in their Seesaw journal online.
Click on the below assignments to see TGA #2 for Reading and TGA#3 for Math.
If you have further questions please reach out to your homeroom teacher.
Classroom Expectations for Learning
Come to live class each day for required instruction. Help support your student to be ready to learn with you in a hands on interactive style lesson. Your student will need to be sitting at your desk or table in front of your computer with listening ears. Help your student to use the mouse by having them have their hand on your mouse ready to fully participate using tools, their dry erase board and their voice to share their thinking. Your teacher will challenge you each day to be a thinker to help you grow and learn. Be ready to think and try and remember to never give up! Be sure your eyes are on the computer and that you are in a quiet learning space to focus.
Learning Coaches please come to class with your child to help create that student friendly learning environment as you talk with them and have them answer to you on thinking and activities during class time. Class is an interactive way for them to be a part of their learning. Class time should consist of students talking than the teacher talking as they take part in their learning each day. When student share their thinking it helps build their confidence to try new things!
It is okay to help them, but allow your student to try independently and it will build their confidence too!

Supplemental Reading Programs & Seesaw App
Mindplay is a supplemental program that will be used by students each week to help them practice skills and grow in reading development. These programs are like computer lab time in a brick and mortar school. Your student will work in Mindplay for 30 minutes each day Monday-Friday that we are in school for a completion grade. Be sure to finish the activity you are on before logging off to get credit for your full time.
Research shows that student who work daily in Mindplay for 30 minutes can show 1 years growth at the end of the year. This is our goal for each child, to grow 1 years growth!!
The Seesaw app will be used for ELA, Math, social emotional development & teacher graded writing assignments to help students grow.
See directions below to log into both programs.
Important Mindplay Course Details
Students are expected to work for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week in MindPlay. They should be completing these lessons independently, as it adapts to their level.
In order to complete the lesson, students need to click the "Open MindPlay" link inside the course and actively work for 30 minutes in MindPlay before marking the lesson complete in the OLS.
