School's Out for Summer!

Thanks to all for a fantastic school year! The year flew by and we are all ready for a break to recharge and renew. It won't be long and we will be back at school preparing for a great 2017-18 school year. I wish you a wonderful summer full of family and fun! Make memories!

MISD Summer Reading Campaign

Mansfield ISD has partnered with Learning A-Z to give all K-4 students free online access to thousands of books through Raz Kids. Information was sent home with your student regarding student logins/passwords. The easiest way to access RAZ Kids is by using the free Kids A-Z online app. On the app, students can listen to books, read books, and print books. To encourage and celebrate summer reading, all students that read 10 or more books on Raz Kids by August will be entered into a drawing to win an IPad Mini or one of two $100 gift cards from Learning A-Z. The MISD student that logs the most reading hours on Raz Kids over the summer will also receive an IPad Mini from Learning A-Z. In addition to the prizes already mentioned, any WBE student who reads a minimum of 18 hours (comes out to 20 minutes a day 5x per week) will have their name entered into a drawing. Each grade level will have 20 student name's drawn for prizes of a book and pencil. Please see the Raz Kids information below, and please encourage your student to READ! READ! READ! over the summer!

With billions of leveled readers already accessed across the world, Raz-Kids is an award winning resource that provides a library of differentiated books at 29 levels of difficulty students use to practice reading in school, at home, or on the go. Digital and mobile access means that students get the personalized reading practice they need anytime, anywhere.

WBE Summer Reading Campaign

In addition to the MISD Summer Reading Campaign in partnership with Learning A-Z, our very own WBE PTA is also challenging students to keep up their reading over the summer. Each student is provided a reading log to record books and minutes read. Those students who read a minimum of 450 minutes can turn in their completed log when we return to school in August and be rewarded for their reading! You can absolutely double dip and write in the books reading on RAZ on the WBE PTA reading log. HAPPY READING!

Summer Math Fact Challange

Fluently knowing math facts is proven to be beneficial to students as they learn new math concepts. Along with reading over the summer, we believe it to be just as important that students keep up their fluency with math facts. There are several FREE websites your student can access. When we return to school in August, students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade will take a math fact fluency quiz. Those that score well will have their names put in a drawing for prizes.

Voters will get a chance to cast their ballot May 30 through June 6 for early voting. Election Day is Saturday, June 10.
