Teacher of the Year
The Walled Lake Consolidated Schools are again participating in a program to honor exemplary teachers. We hope you will join us in an effort that will result in the selection of the TEACHER/EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR for the Walled Lake Consolidated School District at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. This honor will be bestowed at our January 10, 2019 school board meeting.
Each school building will select a teacher of the year and that person’s name will be submitted to the district committee for final selection. All names will be removed from the forms and only the building principal will have knowledge of the candidate’s name. The principal will appoint a committee to help with the local selection. That person’s name will then be submitted to the district committee. We are requesting that this form be returned to your school NO LATER THAN MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2018
Nomination forms were sent home with all students on Friday, October 5th. You can also access the form by clicking on the link below.

- (Be) Yourself
It is important to remember, as parents and/or educators, the power of our words in the presences of children. While we might sometimes wonder "Are they really listening?"... they are! If we speak negatively about others, our children will likely be influenced by our negativity. It is important we model that despite language, culture, religion or physical differences, we have the ability to make positive and meaningful connections with anyone. Making connections between ourselves and someone else helps bring us all together.
When we know ourselves to be connected to
all others, acting compassionately is
simply the natural thing to do.

PTA Updates
Our updated student and staff directory is now active! If you are a current registered member of the PTA you should have received an email over the past few days with info on how to access it.
You will need to use the current link and the temporary password you are sent even if you had access previously. If you don’t see the email, check your spam folder. If there are still questions or concerns please email them to OakleyParkPTA@gmail.com
The student directory is an easy way to stay in touch with other families in our community. And the best place to find addresses for birthday party invites
If you have not joined the PTA yet, you can still do so and be granted access.

PTA: Reflections 2018-2019
This year's PTA Reflections theme is Heroes Around Me.
it’s a great time to start getting inspiration for our annual PTA Reflections Program projects! Start thinking about the people in your world who are heroes. Are they someone whose job is to help people? Are they someone who volunteers in the community? Are they kids helping grown-ups? Or grown-ups helping kids? Are they people helping animals? Or animals helping people?
We can’t wait to see how those heroes inspire you through the arts! Review the current standing rules at the Michigan PTA Reflections website. More information to come! Get creative!
