QVE: Leadership Development School
Dear QVE Family,
Our mission at QVE is to inspire and equip all learners to create innovative solutions to learning by becoming leaders of their own learning.
Instead of looking at leadership as a position such as a CEO or a manager, we define leadership as taking 100% responsibility for your actions and being accountable for your results. We believe that if each member of our community (teachers, staff, students, and families) exercised their power of choice- we will develop a community of people that are effective problem solvers that have the courage to take initiative when presented with challenges.
A few of the ways we are introducing our students to leadership include:
· Adopting Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as a way to teach our students and staff habits of successful people.
· Have each student track/monitor his progress using data notebooks.
· Displaying leadership bulletin boards around to the school to remind students that they are all leaders.
· Distributing wrist bands that display the habits to reinforce the behaviors we wish to see.
We are proud of the results of these initiatives and after giving careful consideration to our leadership development model and its’ impact on our culture, community, and student attendance data we have decided to go one step further and become a Leader in Me School!
As a Leader in Me School our students, staff, and families will:
· Become trained in the 7 Habits by members of Franklin Covey’s team.
· Have the ability to continue use of the habits with proper licensing.
· Receive resources and support as we build out our leadership development model.
· Be a “model” leadership school for the district and the world as we set out to become a Lighthouse School.
· Be introduced to other forms of data tracking tools that will enable our students to interpret, monitor, and guide their progress.
Becoming a Leader in Me School does come with a price, as we would have to raise money for licensing to continue use of the 7 Habits, training, and resources. Our team of teachers are looking at fundraisers, talking to community businesses, and seeking other ways to fund the Leader in Me model. Soon you will receive information about how you can help us reach and support our goal.
I have met with our staff, members of the PTO, and talked with some of our student leaders who are behind this initiative and excited about becoming a Leader in Me School.
This is just another way we are finding innovative solutions to the learning needs of our 21st Century students!
We appreciate your support and look forward to building out a leadership model we can all be proud of!

Teacher Self-Assessment Due to Your Apprasier by Wed., November 11th
Greetings Eagles,
As we enter the 12th week of school, let’s take some time to reflect on all the things we’re doing in our classrooms this year to build a community of learners and create a safe, proactive learning environment.
Let’s do a quick self-assessment (please copy/paste the questions below and email to your appraiser):
Name____________________________ Grade Level_____________________
Do you arrive to work in time to prepare for students arrival or do you arrive at the same time as your students?
Have you started morning interventions?
Do you hold morning meetings prior to starting your instructional day to check in with students on a personal level?
Have your students started monitoring/tracking progress in their data notebooks?
Has Daily 3/Daily 5 been integrated effectively? Why or why not?
What assistance and/or resources can we provide?
Please complete the reflective questions above and submit to your appraiser by Wednesday, November 11th at 4:00 pm.
QVE Houston TEXANS Day!
So after finally speaking with the Texans representatives I have the details of how the day will be planned. First thing the event will only be for 2nd-5th grade and its going to be outside on the playground barring any rain, if it does rain it will be moved to the gym. I asked which player would come but they are keeping it a surprise for the introduction.
- Event starts at 10 so if we could have students lined up and ready to by 9:35-9:45.
- They asked if teachers could be available to work stations as well.
- Water and Gatorade will be provided.
- They have asked that whatever player comes that adults not ask for autographs and individual pictures due to the fact that they want the players to be focused on the kids.
- Parents are allowed but only to watch.
- Participation waiver forms will be passed out and must be signed and brought back in order for students to participate.
- Group photo will be taken at the end with all students and teachers that would like to be in the photo.
- Also do not forget that its Texan day so be sure to have your Texans shirt for the event.
- We also will be wearing our Texan shirts for our bowling event that night as well for those that will be attending.
Lastly, I would like to Thank You all for helping make this a reality for our awesome students so lets make this day the best we can for them!
Employee Engagement Survey
Dear Eagles:
By now, you should have received an email asking you to participate in the District's Employee Engagement Survey, designed and administered by our partner K12 Insight. This survey is one example of my commitment to fostering two-way communication, collaboration and transparency.
Your thoughtful and honest answers about your experience working for our district are invaluable as we strive to make Fort Bend ISD even more successful.
Please know that all your answers will be treated in a confidential manner. Reports will not identify individuals, since data will be viewed on a collective level only. No one in this district will know whether you have participated unless you identify yourself in the space for open-ended comments.
We appreciate your feedback.
