MAP Testing for Secondary Students

All 6th -10th grade students will be required to complete the Spring MAP Benchmark Assessment in reading and math next week. This assessment will be completed online from home. Students will be expected to participate in their normally scheduled synchronous instruction on Monday, 5/2/22 for all classes.

Beginning on Tuesday, 5/3, students will meet synchronously for MAP testing with their English and math teachers in accordance with our daily period schedule. *For example, my student has English in period 1 on his schedule so my student will log in to a Google Meet with his English teacher at the start time for period 1. He does not have math until period 4 so he will not be expected to login with his math teacher until the start time for period 4.

Students will have from Tuesday, 5/3/22 until Friday, 5/6/22 to complete the reading and math components of the assessment. Should your student need to be absent next week for any reason please contact your child's English and math teachers to reschedule.

This is an untimed, self-paced assessment that will measure students' academic growth. Students will continue to attend synchronous sessions for English and math classes until their teacher has verified that the student has completed the assessment entirely. Once a student finishes the assessment the student will be excused from synchronous sessions and be expected to continue with asynchronous independent assigned work for classes.

Should you have any questions about your student's testing schedule please contact your student's English and or math teachers directly.

For more information about the MAP test please visit https://www.nwea.org/resource-center/resource/what-is-map-growth/

Helpful Tips for Online Learning

NVLA does not use Google Classroom. Students access their coursework through Canvas. You can find Canvas by going to clever.ccsd.net and logging in with your school email, then choose Canvas.

Need a tutorial on how to use Canvas? Middle School/High School Students, check out the Passport to Canvas or click the HELP button on the left side menu in Canvas.

Students can self-enroll at this URL: https://ccsd.instructure.com/enroll/8N936W. Alternatively, they can sign up at https://ccsd.instructure.com/register and use the following join code: 8N936W

Cookies Required Message

If you get the Cookies Required message when you log in to Canvas from Clever here are a couple of workarounds:
1. Look on the blue Canvas menu bar on the left side of your screen to see if there is a key with "Log in" under it. Click it and see if it logs you in. If not;

2. Look at the address bar and delete everything after the question (?) mark, then press enter, that should log you in.

Please submit a help ticket if this problem continues to occur.
