April is School Library Month!
Celebrate All Month Long in the Trojan Media Center
School libraries are kind of a big deal...
Whether it be special programs, contests, or a focus on special resources, school libraries celebrate BIG.
This April, the SJHS Trojan Media Center will host several School Library Month events, activities, and contests that encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication!
Students are encouraged to participate and use hashtag #SLM17 #sjhstrojans #sjhsmediacenter and tag @sjhsmediacenter to post about activities.

Month-Long Activities
We plan to recognize these months by having poetry creation and stress reducing activities throughout April.
Coloring Center: Stress Less!
Coloring activates both parts of the cerebral hemisphere, mimics meditation, helps reduce anxiety, sparks creativity, and brings about mindfulness and focus.
If you want to reap the benefits of coloring, stop by the media center to unwind. Use our supplies or BYOC (bring your own colors)!
Are You a Poet & Know It?!
Blackout poetry: Grab a book page from Mrs. Haumont and start finding words on the page that you can combine to make a poem. It can be one line/sentence or phrase. You can even add some elements of art to your page. Express yourself and be creative. Search "blackout poetry" online for some amazing samples!
Book spine poetry: Peruse the shelves of the Trojan Media Center to find titles of books that you can combine to make short poetry with. Stack the books and snap a pic of your poetry.
Original poetry: Share your original poetry! Handwritten or typed on the makerspace typewriter! Take a picture of your original poetry and share it with Mrs. Haumont via email or Twitter!
Feel free to tag your poetry pics #sjhsmediacenter #SLM17 #nationalpoetrymonth
Participating students may have their poems selected to be added to our new online literary arts journal!
Challenges
3D Bookmark Design Contest: No More Dog-Eared Pages!
