Core Messages in the NEW Language Curriculum
The language curriculum provides a strong foundation in both reading and writing, which enable students to understand and tell stories about their communities, cultures, and histories, expressing their sense of global citizenship or personal commitment.
An effective language curriculum recognizes the diverse identities and abilities of students and their different language and cultural experiences and learning needs.

UNDERSTANDING the NEW LANGUAGE CURRICULUM
Description:
A practical overview of the NEW Ontario Language Curriculum 1 -9 will be provided. PART ONE will focus on the organizational structure, strands, and examining similarities and differences. There will be an emphasis on developing an understanding of STRAND A as an overarching strand and how the overall expectations of this strand can be supported with culturally responsive and cross-curricular instruction.
PART TWO in January will be about creating an assessment culture through learning goals, success criteria, and descriptive feedback, and reflecting on evaluation messages to help determine one grade/mark for "Language" in the report card.
A teacher, a mentor, an administrator, a mother, a grandma, an aunt, a daughter, a sister . . . Learners of any age are welcome to attend and learn about a modern language curriculum that reflects emerging technologies and encompasses learning across the curriculum and in the world beyond the classroom.
