Watch D.O.G.S.
The primary goals of the Watch D.O.G.S. program are:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
School Communication
There are many ways to be connected to what is happening at BES! Options include our campus newsletter, e-mail, School Messenger broadcasts (BISD's mass notification system), and our campus Facebook and Twitter pages!
Click on this link to get more information about all the ways you can stay “in the know.”
Our website has been updated - check it out by clicking here!
If you are not recieving any phone messages or e-mails from the school, please contact Jessica Allen by calling the front desk (979-277-3880) or emailing her at jallen@brenhamk-12.net to ensure we have the correct information for you and that you have opted in for School Messenger.
BISD App
There is a great app for our district. Simply download it and follow the schools your children attend. With a click of a button, you can see your student's grades, lunch menus, district news, and much more! Click here for links and information:
Core Essential Value for September 2018
Last month we talked about WISDOM, and this month we will learn about INITIATIVE! Initiative means that you see what needs to be done and you do it.
Packing lunch, signing papers, putting homework in the backpack...the list of things to do seems never-ending! This month, as we teach our Big Idea, you can practice at home. Did you know that K-2 kids are improving in their hand-eye coordination and 3-5th graders can collaborate on house rules and consequences? Use those skills to help them develop initiative.
There is a coloring sheet about Initiative at the end of this newsletter for students to enjoy.
DISMISSAL
These are just a few ways you can help our car rider line be efficient and safe:
- Help your student know their car rider number. They will have this number the entire time they are at BES - all the way through 4th grade - so the quicker they learn it, the easier it will be!
- Remain in the line - parents who walk up to get students will be asked to return to the line. Everyone following the procedure will ensure the safety of our staff and students.
- Please keep your hang tag on your mirror until your student is loaded. This helps everyone and ensures the line runs as efficiently as possible.
- Call or send a note if you need additional tags for grandparents or carpool friends who may pick up your child. Releasing students only to those with school-issued green tags helps us ensure your student goes home with the correct person.
GENERAL
Please communicate with your child's teacher or the front desk if you want your child to go home a different way than usual. Students have difficulty being responsible for communicating this information - they are children and sometimes forget.
Library News
Parents we are so excited to be working with your reader again this year in the BES library. We will be continuing our Birthday Book Club this year. Last year due to our generous families we were able to add 41 new books to our collection for students to check out. We hope to top that number this year! If you could also continue to send in BoxTops to the library it would be appreciated. It helps us to purchase items for our students to utilize during our library times that engage them in fun literacy activities.
If you need a Birthday Book Club Form, please see the form attached below or send a note to the library, and we will get one to you.
