GREETINGS RAM COMMUNITY!
School Store! School Store! School Store!
Here at Wilson we have the amazing privilege of selling spirit wear, and fun items for your students to purchase at our school store during their lunch period. We will be opening the school store every week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will need your help as volunteers, to keep the store open throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering throughout the year, please click on the volunteer form sign up link below. Once you have signed up to volunteer, you will receive an additional email with all the information you will need to run the school store. We hope to see you up there!

REFLECTIONS CONTEST - SUBMISSIONS DUE NOV 3
Reflections 2023-2024 Theme: "I am Hopeful Because..."
Watch this short video about the reflections contest. There are many ways for kids to express themselves and the Reflections Contest has made it possible to do just that. Multiple entries into any or all of the categories is allowed and encouraged. Students' work is judged at the local campus, with the opportunity to advance to Council, Texas and National PTAs. Scholarships and prizes are available for top entries!
This is not only a PTA initiative, but a community initiative. Our kids needs to be heard and we need to hear them. The them of "I AM HOPEFUL BECAUSE" is something we all need to step back and think about as the world we live in becomes increasingly negative.
Let's change that!
HEALTHY LIFESTYLES PRO TIP: DRINK MORE WATER!
Happy Fall Wilson Families! I hope everyone’s school year is off to a great start. As promised,
here is my Healthy Lifestyles tip for September. It starts with a question; are you drinking enough water?
If you or your loved ones find yourself feeling sluggish or lethargic and you are getting proper sleep, it could be that you are dehydrated.
The National Academy of Medicine suggests an adequate intake of daily fluids of about 13 cups and 9 cups for healthy men and women, respectively, with 1 cup equaling 8 ounces. Higher amounts may be needed for those who are physically active or exposed to very warm climates. Lower amounts may be needed for those with smaller body sizes. It’s important to note that this amount is not a daily target, but a general guide. Please see the chart below for a more detailed and exact amount based on one’s weight.
Symptoms of dehydration that may occur with as little as a 2% water deficit include fatigue,
confusion or short-term memory loss, mood changes like increased irritability or depression. Also, dehydration can increase the risk of certain medical conditions including urinary tract infections, kidney stones, gallstones, and constipation. None of that sounds very fun so the best plan is to strive for at least a few water bottles a day.
If you are like me and plain water is just too plain, add some lime or cucumbers. Also, if you
already like soda, I recommend switching that for carbonated water as that counts toward your daily goal as well! This is a great habit to get into and one that will improve your health overall, both mentally and physically! Cheers!

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES PRO TIP (SEPT): GET MORE SLEEP!
