Practically all child problem behaviors are due to a deficit in an important life skill. These skills include: how to do what you do not want to do; how to be okay with hearing ‘no’; how to deal with overwhelm; how to deal with making mistakes; how to deal with big feelings, etc.. In this hour and a half Zoom workshop, you will learn how to build a collaborative problem solving and skill building team with your child so that you become teammates instead of adversaries. You will learn how to be a co-scientist with your child to find important clues that will uncover needed skills and the best plan to learn them. Creative and fun role-play, imagery, and deductive reasoning techniques will help your child build and learn these skills. Also included will be tools for dealing with big emotions, unwanted thoughts, impulse regulation, increasing motivation for change and many others.
This collaborative skill building team approach is based on the work of Dr. Ross Greene. His books include The Explosive Child, Raising Human Beings and Lost at School.
Presented by Jannelle Guillot, Walnut’s School Counselor. Jannelle is also a Marriage Family Therapist, a mom of 4 grown kids and a former High School Science teacher.
