Dear FMS Families,
WOW! We are down to the last two weeks of school! It's hard to believe that the year is almost over. There are so many things happening these last nine days. We've included these below.
In the news: Many of you may have seen the information regarding truancy court in the news. This is a voluntary program starting this fall as the community is partnering with our county schools. It is for students that struggle to come to school each day without a excused reason. It is not for students that have chronic health issues or family emergencies that keep them from school. The state expects students to be at school 90% of the school year. There is much research to back this percentage up. That still means that a child could miss up to 17 days of school and still be here 90% of the time. So what is the goal of WISE Court? Early intervention and a system of resources so that families aren't referred to the Juvenile Court for truancy. This is a voluntary after school program that families would agree to be a part of, not something that is mandated. If you have any questions, please feel free to give Mrs. Houf a call at 590-8200.
Thank you so much for all you do to support your child(ren)'s education! We truly appreciate you and all you do!
Sincerely,
Beth Houf and Erica Hogan
