About the UTA New Teacher Induction Project: Building Digital Community

The purpose of the new teacher webinars are to build "digital community" for current students, alumni of the department and others in an open-access format. The focus is primarily on building knowledge for recent graduates as part of a larger overall teacher induction initiative. The focus will be on interactivity and participation around crucial topics to new teachers.

Other components of the induction initiative can include further use of the already existing C & I Department Facebook page to promote digital community as well as use of social media (to be determined) to foster knowledge sharing and tips for current students and new teachers. The goal of the webinar sessions will be to informally mentor and also allow students to talk to one another via the "chat" window in a real-time sessions. Engaging tools will include: live, interactive polls, sharing from virtual panelists or "guests", knowledge sharing by faculty, sharing of links and resources, and more.
