Principal’s Message
Greetings, Vista High School families!
It is my pleasure and honor to be taking over as Vista High School Principal. While the end of the school year draws near, the staff of Vista High is focused on serving your students to reach their highest potential right up through the very last day. Thank you for supporting your students by ensuring they make it to school, checking in on their grades and homework completion, and letting us know when we can provide additional layers of support.
Looking ahead to next school year, the Administration staff at Vista High School will be working diligently during the summer to implement a number of new initiatives. Excitingly, Vista High School has been awarded a Community Schools Grant, which will provide additional support connecting with our families and collecting the community’s input about school improvement. We look forward to collaborating with you in the coming year as Vista High undergoes its revisioning process.
Vista High School would also like to announce several administrative staffing changes for the upcoming school year. Our new Assistant Principal Myron Seabrook is a specialist in the area of Special Education, and a Vista High Graduate. We also would like to announce a new Athletic Director, former VHS Assistant Principal Juan Ayala. Mr. Ayala brings to the Athletics Department over twenty years of experience in education, ten years of administrative experience, and is a bilingual former Principal. We are excited to support our students as they pursue athletic excellence, academic achievement, and character development on and off the field.
As we near the end of the year, we look forward to celebrating the many accomplishments of our Seniors at Graduation on June 7th. Graduation is a beautiful ceremony where we both reflect on and honor the accomplishments of our students, and celebrate sending them out into the world. We wish them, and our Senior families, a very warm best wishes.
Proud to be your new Principal,
Megan Ratliff

A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee
In the realm of Awara, where gods, monsters, and humans exist side by side, Miuko is an ordinary girl resigned to a safe, if uneventful, existence as an innkeeper's daughter.
But when Miuko is cursed and begins to transform into a demon with a deadly touch, she embarks on a quest to reverse the curse and return to her normal life. Aided by a thieving magpie spirit and continuously thwarted by a demon prince, Miuko must outfox tricksters, escape demon hunters, and negotiate with feral gods if she wants to make it home again.
With her transformation comes power and freedom she never even dreamed of, and she'll have to decide if saving her soul is worth trying to cram herself back into an ordinary life that no longer fits her... and perhaps never did.

Family & Community Engagement
The Importance of Community Engagement
The work we do as Community Liaisons is built on interactive methods that bridge communication between our school and the community. Our culturally rich experiences serve as our foundation for helping our students and their parents in a safe and loving environment. Based on the demographics of our community, Spanish is the home language for many of our families and for this reason we provide bilingual support while also acknowledging and honoring all languages, backgrounds, and narratives. We assist in facilitating families with access to communication and resources. In our mission, we strive to make our greatest efforts to preserve our connections and encourage learning and education for both our students and their families. -Dalia R. Hipolito Martinez
