Davis Richmond E-News

October 4, 2019

Thank you to all parents who completed the form that provided us with feedback about the new elementary school day. The District was thrilled to have received over 900 responses. On September 23, parents and staff members who make up the Think Tank met to review research and have a discussion about innovative learning and what it looks like in District 303. In addition, they analyzed the feedback form responses. A summary of the first meeting is available on the District 303 website here. We encourage you to take a moment to read over the summary. We will provide you with additional summaries after subsequent meetings.

Legos Needed

Richmond is adding a Lego wall to our LRC. We are in need of legos, legos and more legos. We are looking for all shapes, sizes and colors. Please consider donating some legos to our school. If every student brought in just 10 legos we would have almost 4,000 legos!

100 Mile Club

Due to a high level of student interest, 100 Mile Club will be offering open registration now through Oct 8th. Any student interested in 100 Mile Club may pick up a registration form in the gymnasium or see Ms. Semenek. Richmonds 100 Mile Club is a wonderful opportunity for students to set and achieve personal goals while being active. Students may earn miles during Precision Fitness, at lunch recess and by participating in community running events.

CARE Meetings October: Communication

Our CARE (Creating a Respectful Environment) focus for October is COMMUNICATION. Miriam-Webster defines communication as “the act or process of using words, sounds, signs, or behaviors to express or exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc., to someone else”. Communication is a vital skill to develop in children to help them build relationships with others and express themselves. Strong communication with a variety of audiences are part of Career and College Readiness Standards. Employers are looking for candidates with 21st first century skills, one of those being communication. Our focus the month of October during CARE meetings is to help develop communication skills and strengthen our classroom communities.
