We are encouraging all of our students to keep their school-issued technology devices over the summer. This will allow students to continue to have access to the programs they have been using throughout the year. Online learning access and remote support will be available through July 23.

The library of available resources includes RAZ-Kids, Lexia, Typing Agent, Zearn, Brain Pop and more. Click HERE for the list of programs and instructions for logging in from your USD device. You will also find details for accessing tech support over the summer. Happy learning.

Tomorrow, Alta Vista will be participating in an earthquake drill. This will include an announcement that we are practicing what to do in the event of an earthquake. Students will be instructed to "Drop - Cover - Hold On" while in the classroom. After a short pause we will evacuate to the field, as we would for a fire drill.

Tomorrow evening, please take some time as a family to discuss what you would do if there was an earthquake while you were at home. Ask your child to show you how to "Drop - Cover - Hold On" so that you can all practice together. It is also a great time to decide on a meeting point if you need to evacuate in the event of a fire or earthquake.

Although it can seem scary to discuss the possibility of what could happen during an earthquake, it much more important for us all to be ready so that we know what to do in the moment.

Here are two great resources for being earthquake-ready at home:

Our art program Art Vistas had a successful transition to an online program this year. To celebrate the students' art this year, we will be having an Online Art Show! This will be a district wide art show via a Google photo album. We would love to see and share the art created by our students at Alta Vista this year! Please participate by selecting one or more pieces of student artwork created with the Art Vistas lessons to share (photos should be of the art work only and not include children's faces). Art Vistas will organize the photos and create an online art show to share with the community.

Photos of the artwork can be uploaded to: Art Vistas 2021 Online Art Show Upload Please upload photos by Friday, May 21st to participate.

We will have our last meeting (general meeting) of the year on Tuesday, 5/25. It will be a short meeting to wrap up the year and vote in the 2021-2022 board. Meeting will run from 7:30-8 pm.
