Tiogue Faculty & Staff
At-A-Glance July 13, 2018 #41
Hope this newsletter has found you well...
I am leaving for New Hampshire this weekend for a relaxing week up North. Carol and I got to work together for a few weeks. All purchase orders were submitted and many supplies have already arrived at our building.
Carol was able to organize the supply areas and back room where all of the permanent records are kept. Those file cabinets are organized and ready for next year.
We are welcoming several new teachers to Tiogue, as of the July 9th Job Fair.
Kathleen DeLuca joins Tiogue in grade 4 as Amy Siemmao headed back to the High School Guidance position.
Shawna Maxwell will join us in Gr. K, and Milena Burton is back in her 'old' position, in our K-2 Intensive Resource Program. Casey Grant joins Tiogue this fall as our new Gr. 3-5 Life Skills Teacher. Also joining our Tiogue team, we have:
Courtney Tucker, SLP
Richard Frigon, APE
Beth Horne, COTA
Kim Saccucci, OT
and Sue Pacheco, Priority Nurse.
I'll report more as things move along over the next few weeks.
See you all very soon,
Dom
Please send Dom updated supply lists, by grade level, so we can update them on our website

Our phone system has had many issues this summer.
Line 1 is not working properly and many calls have been dropped, missed, or when answered, the crackling noises make it too difficult to hear the person on the other end.
We are looking into the issue.

IXL Information for summer and next year
This will mean that all users (Teachers & Students) from Tiogue must use their regular credentials, but sign in on the Coventry custom domain page at https://www.ixl.com/signin/coventry.
If you do not sign in using the new webpage, you will get an "expired account" message.
Finally, because all schools will have access to IXL from now on, we will only have access to the mathematics. ELA will no longer connect for us.
Thanks,
Dom

Message from District Tech Team
Since the transition to Google back in 2014, utilization of this service has steadily declined. Faced with budgetary constraints associated with maintaining the servers to store and backup this data, the time has come to complete the transition to GoogleDrive.
Teachers should take the time from now until the end of the year to migrate any files you wish to keep from your H drive to your GoogleDrive. Depending on the amount of data you wish to keep, this can take some time.
Here is a video detailing how to make this move.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgdwQJqybQc
User Google accounts have unlimited storage capacity and teachers will now have anytime access to these files, something we could not provide before.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

SEL/Restorative Practice's Corner
This excerpt from the article really hit home for me:
"A trauma-informed, SEL, cultural awareness model of supports allows (educators) to create a safe environment to address trauma and SEL skill build, while also tapping into the strengths and opportunities of students' culture.
In this way, prevention assets don't just build on each other, they multiply," says Dr. Gregory Leskin, Ph.D, Director at UCLA/Duke University National Center for Child Traumatic Stress.

We are going to take our SEL work to the next level during this upcoming school year.
