November 7, 2022
I cannot overstate the importance of the home-school relationship. This relationship looks different for every student and every family - we have parents, guardians, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, neighbors, etc. all involved in our students’ success. I get a chance to see this relationship being cultivated everyday in some capacity, sometimes through conversations at drop off or pick up, phone calls to the main office, and emails to staff. Last week, I had the opportunity to see these relationships being cultivated in a few distinct ways: 1) parent teacher conferences and 2) our first off campus field trip of the year. It was fantastic to see so many of you in the building on Wednesday evening, often with your student(s), to learn about their successes and areas for growth. Then again, on Thursday morning, many parents arrived at school with our students to support the first grade field trip to the zoo. No matter what your level of involvement, any opportunities to connect home and school are ones we value and appreciate. Thank you!
Here is a link to a google photo album with some pictures from our BEN Assembly and the first grade field trip to the zoo.
Most Sincerely,
Steffany Jewell

YOUR CHILD’S EMERGENCY CONTACTS
After the lockdown incident at Franklin High School last week, we examined and reviewed how quickly the messages were getting to families after we sent them. The time for messages to move from us to parents during that incident experienced a small lag. After reviewing this with our messaging provider, we learned of a more efficient way to send messages out during emergencies. As Monday came around and FPMS went into lockdown, evacuation and reunification, the district emergency broadcasts that went out not only went to listed parents/guardians, but also to any “emergency contacts” that are associated with your child(ren) as listed in PowerSchool. Sending these as emergency level messages allows for the emails and phone calls to go out quicker through the system.
We share this with you so you understand that there may be times where your emergency contacts will receive information from us in situations like this. Please share this knowledge with your emergency contacts so they are in the know. We always work to identify ourselves as “Franklin Public Schools” when sending messages. If you wish to change your emergency contacts, you can connect with the main office staff at your child’s school.
