Did you know a single JUUL e-cigarette contains as much nicotine as smoking a full pack of 20 cigarettes?
Please take time to read the link below from the MN Department of Health on the rising concern of our youth & smoking electronic cigarettes.
STUDENT CENTER SPOTLIGHT
Prevention and Awareness
A lot of focus is put on taking care of our physical health. It is equally important to take care of our mental health. October marks National Substance Abuse Prevention Month. Often used as a tool to deal with mental health issues, substance abuse in all its forms: tobacco, alcohol, prescription drugs, and illegal drugs can exacerbate them. Families can be and should be good role models in their use of legal substances to help prevent their children from using substances in an abusive manner. The National Association of Mental Illness also recognizes the first week in October as Mental Illness Awareness Week, as well as, October 10th as World Mental Health Day. Our school district has adopted district-wide curriculums to help support our children in taking care of their mental health. It is important that all the adults in the lives of our children pay attention to the signs and symptoms they may be displaying in order to help them as quickly as possible. The fast pace of life and the constant use of technology has removed the quiet time our minds need to relax. Simple things such as getting up to stretch, massaging your hands as you apply lotion, looking out the window as you ride in a vehicle to observe nature, and surrounding yourself with positivity can make a huge impact in taking care of your mental health. Follow the student center on twitter @MSStudentCenter as we share information about chemical and mental health. Please feel free to call one of us if you need more information:

Grateful for Donations!
A gracious “Thank You” to the many groups and individuals who donated school supplies or funding to help our MMS students who need financial assistance to be successful at school. The Monti Effect parent group, Wright County Area United Way, and Excell Education Systems have provided financial support and donations for multiple years, all of which help many of students.
