RFHS Compass
August 12 , 2022
Hello, Pirate Families! 🏴☠️
We wrapped up our first week today, and while we had a few bumps and had to make some quick adjustments with our class exchange patterns, we all survived! We spent time today with each grade level going over campus expectations so that we can have a smooth year.
To help maintain a safe and secure campus, we have installed very loud 🔔 alarms 🔔 on doors that are to be used for emergency exits only, we have changed our foot traffic patterns so that students are not walking across campus in front of the school, and we often have multiple police officers on the campus. We want our students to feel safe at RFHS, and we want you to feel comfortable with them here, too.
Regarding safety/security, we will constantly tell students, "If you see something, say something!" We know that students are keepers of a lot of knowledge so they play a pivotal role in helping us keep our campus safe.
We are looking forward to a fun and safe school year!

Fish Camp Fun!
Student Council, Cheerleaders, Emeralds, and RFHS drumline welcomed 93 freshmen for Fish Camp. These new students to the high school perused tables for clubs to join, toured the school, played games, and received their Chromebooks. It was a busy 1 1/2 hours.
RFHS Spanish Club
The Rockport-Fulton High School Spanish Club provides educational opportunities outside of the classroom and social events for RFHS students interested in the Spanish language and culture. Club members also participate in community service projects each year. Three-year members qualify for a graduation cord. Students interested in joining the RFHS Spanish Club for the 2022-23 school year may stop by room 212 for more information.
MEET THE TEACHER
We've got a great evening planned for August 22 - our RFHS Meet the Teacher evening. Those in attendance will be able to grab a piece of pizza (courtesy of the ACE program) lemonade, and cookies during the evening. We'll showcase some of our student organizations, have Pirate merchandise for sale, and be available to answer any questions you may have. We hope to see you all there!
Cell Phones - Reminder!
Free Breakfast and Lunch
Parents are allowed to drop off lunch, but the lunch must only be for their personal child. This is a school nutrition guideline that we must follow, so we that you for your cooperation.
ACE Clubs and Organizations
This is going to be an exciting year for RFHS ACE! The Afterschool Centers on Education will be offering a variety of free existing and new activities for students and their families. RFHS ACE is starting the new school year with the Maritime Club, Open Mic, Club de Español, Drivers Education, Go Club, Career Military Training, Art Club, and Interact Club. Mark your calendars for our free Hunter Safety Certification class on September 10th and 11th for ACE students 14 years and older plus their family members. Keep your eye on The Compass for ACE news about our upcoming musical and additional student activities. The ACE afterschool bus will begin operations on August 22nd. Appearance Expectations
ACISD has revised its appearance code a bit, so we encourage all to check out the guidelines before coming to school to ensure that expectations are met. You can find the Appearance Code below. The biggest issue we're seeing so far is that many girls' shirts are exposing their midriff. Even if a jacket/sweater is worn over the shirt, the short shirt is not within dress code. Please be mindful of that when purchasing school clothes.
Communication
We encourage everyone to follow us on the RFHS Facebook page and to check our web page regularly. On these pages, we will provide updates, videos and links to important information. Every week, RFHS will share its newsletter, “The Compass,” through the RFHS Facebook page, the RFHS webpage, and through email/text. Parents, please make sure that your email and phone number are current in the Skyward system so we can keep you updated. Additionally, daily announcements will be posted on Facebook. Students will hear these announcements, but we want to make sure parents learn about them, too.
Google Classroom Codes
All students at RFHS are asked to join their grade-level Google Classroom. We’ll send out information on these pages, so we encourage everyone to join their appropriate grade-level classroom.
9th grade - mfre7ir
10th grade - ahm5rvz
