Math
REMEMBER:
Length
Length Adventure
Find a pencil to use as a measuring tool
Use that pencil to find things around the house to measure.
On a piece of paper draw 3 things you found that are longer than your pencil.
Then draw 3 things you found that are shorter than your pencil.
Finally, choose your favorite thing from your bedroom and measure it’s “length,” by using your pencil. How many “pencils” long is that thing? Draw a picture and label it’s length.
Sorting Objects by Length
Get out some stuffed animals, crayons, legos, farm animals or any other toys or objects you can find.
Put them in order from shortest to longest.
Draw a picture of your sort.
Height
How Tall are We?
Measure all of the people in your family with string or yarn, or anything else you can find.
Then draw a picture of each person.
Hang up your pictures and yarn, etc. Somewhere so you can see who is the tallest and who is the shortest.
Create a spring picture on your wall or refrigerator. (if it’s ok with the grown-ups)
Measure 5 pieces of string by using crayons:
String 1: 4 crayons long
String 2: 8 crayons long
String 3: 10 crayons long
String 4: 1 crayon long
Then draw some flowers to attach to each string.
Area
Explore Area
Find some post-its or small pieces of paper (cut paper into squares if needed).
Use those post-its or pieces to create a picture on your bedroom door, refrigerator, window, or another area.
Then count how many post-its or pieces you used to create that picture – write that number somewhere on your picture (area).
If you don’t have paper or post-its, you can use legos, blocks, marshmallows, or any other object that would work.
