ECHS Exemptions
In an effort to increase attendance, exemptions will take place each spring. Any absence that occurs during the second semester will count towards your allotted absences.
Absences PRIOR to Christmas break will not be counted for exemption purposes. Discipline, ISS, suspension, etc. are also a clean slate for the new semester, so be on your best behavior.
Exemptions-
9th Grade- Two classes per semester + any Final Exams for EOCs they have successfully passed
10th Grade- Four classes per semester + any Final Exams for EOCs they have successfully passed
11th Grade- Six classes per semester + any Final Exams for EOCs they have successfully passed
12th Grade- All classes for the semester + any Final Exams for EOCs they have successfully passed
To earn the exemption, the student must:
- Maintain a 90+ average with no more than 4 absences
- Maintain an 80+ average with no more than 3 absences
- May NOT have been placed in Principal's D-Hall, DAEP, ISS, or be suspended
- May not have any outstanding fees or fines
- Dual credit courses do not apply to this policy
Please note: The only doctors notes that do not count against a student per TEA rules are attendance code: M-DNs. This means that the student came to school at least one class period during the day that they were seen by a doctor. The attendance code: A-DN means that a student had a doctors note but did not attend school that day and counts as an absence in regards to the exemption rule.
School related absences do not count against a student in regards to exemptions.
