Mrs. Miles' 6th Pre-AP Math

Week of February 1, 2016

4th Six Weeks Topic Overview

During the 4th six weeks, 6th grade Pre-AP students at Moore are focusing on Geometry and Measurement. They will be measuring angles with a protractor, classifying triangles and solving for missing angles. In addition, students will be finding the area of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids, and circles. Towards the middle of the six weeks, students will also be finding the volume and surface area of three dimensional figures. The six weeks will conclude with analyzing data by finding the measures of central tendency.

4th Six Weeks Math Project

******UPDATE: Because I will be at the MathCounts Competition on Wednesday, I have moved the Project Due Date to Thursday, February 4th. *****

This six weeks, students will be responsible for an individual Math project. The project spirals in concepts taught during the 3rd six weeks and allows students to create a variety of activities. Students must pick three activities in a tic-tac-toe formation. Projects are due FEBRUARY 4th and will count as a TEST grade. A link has been provided with the instructions if your child needs another copy.
