A Note from Mrs. Johansen
I hope everyone is having a great start to the Thanksgiving break.
We are proud to be collecting toys for the Toys For Tots foundation. The flyer is linked below. Please consider bringing an item to school. The collection bins are in the front lobby.
As you know, we hosted parent-teacher conferences this week. While these two days are designated for conferences, you are always welcome to reach out to the Sandburg staff via email or phone to discuss your child's progress. If there is something you need to ask or relay to a specific teacher, please don't feel that you need to wait until conference time to do so. The link to the Sandburg staff directory is HERE. We are happy to partner with you to support your child at any time.
Whether you're traveling or staying home, I hope you and your families have an opportunty to find calm and a chance to recharge. We are grateful for your support and to be working with your children each day.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Erika Johansen
Sandburg Principal

Update from Nutrition Services
Due to supply chain issues, we are unable to serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at our schools. We hope to have them back in stock soon, but in the meantime, we will be serving Protein Power Packs so students will have a vegetarian option.
We know many families print off their menus for the month. Please note that if we have to change an offering due to the shortage, we will update menus online each Friday so families will know if there are any changes for the following week. Please check regularly if your child has a favorite that may be in short supply

Update from D15 Department of Teaching and Learning
Privacy and student data protection is a key priority for the District. Our three main technology departments (instructional technology, technology, and data services) work to make sure our systems and vendors comply with the requirements of the Student Online Personal Protection Act or SOPPA, which regulates how student information is protected by school districts and education technology vendors they use. Our student privacy web page outlines our privacy related actions and protective measures.
We also employ a number of measures like on-site filtering, student device monitoring, and security tools which protect our network from outside threats. Students participate in digital citizenship curriculum, and staff can employ tools to support students in making good digital choices. Lastly, our district participates in several state and national consortiums, collaborating with other districts to keep informed on best practices and new resources that may support our data privacy policies.
