A Message from Dr. Bearden
There was a lot going on at SHE during the past week and a bunch of great things coming up!
I want to thank the management of Old Blind Dog for hosting the SHE spirit night and, as well, a thank you to all the families, who attended the SHE spirit night. We had a great crowd and I enjoyed seeing/talking with families! What a fun night and I am looking forward to future spirit nights.
The 5th grade trip to Rock Eagle was so much fun!! Thank you to the 5th grade teachers for a well-organized event filled with learning, fun, and making new connections. Thank you to the chaperones, who accompanied the trip and shared the fun with our students! We could not take a big trip like this without the support and participation of parent chaperones! If you would like to see some of the pic, check out Twitter #SHeagle2019, where we posted all of our fun pictures of students using pioneer tools, hiking, canoeing, and learning about lake ecology! In the next few days, we will get the SHE Rock Eagle photos posted to the SHE website on our scrolling pictures link.
A few SHE family reminders:
Lunch dates are a great way to enjoy a birthday lunch with your child(ren); however, please refrain from bringing latex and/or mylar balloons to the cafeteria. Many or our children have latex/mylar allergies and, as well, it tends to be disruptive for our students, who remain with their classes. Also, please be mindful that, for safety, only your child(ren) should be invited to the stage to have lunch with you. Thank you for understanding and for helping us to be able to accommodate lunch dates for families and their children, with minimal disruption to our normal school day.
Car Pool (in the morning and during dismissal) is running smoothly for the most part. Please be sure that you are staying aware of the following:
- Your car slows down significantly as you approach and leave the car pool areas
- Your child only enters/exits your vehicle on the school side curb, where staff can assist
- Your child, including his/her belongings, has completely exited your car and the door is closed before pulling away from the curb
- Bring your fur friend along on Waggin' Wednesday! We have doggie treats for all of our SHE fur friends!
There are several events next week, which are open to all families. On Tuesday, at 7 am, the SHE School Governance Council is meeting.
In addition, I will be available on Tuesday, 10/1, at 9 am for any parents, who would like to attend the Principal Chat. This month, those who attend will learn more about the new math curriculum pacing, which is beginning in Kindergarten this year. This new enhanced curriculum allows pacing such that will advance or accelerate children in math, without skipping any levels of math. If you would like to find out more, please join me on the stage at 9 am on Tuesday, 10/1.
Lastly and one of my favorites, the SHE carnival is next Friday, October 4th. Be sure to check out the SHE PTO website for more information on how to get tickets. The Carnival has a fall theme this year and is sure to a lot of fun! All families are invited to attend carnival on Friday, October 4th, from 5 pm to 9 pm. I am really looking forward to Carnival and hope to see you all there!!
I promise to keep you updated and, as always, thank you for reading and for your partnership! Please reach out if you have any questions or anything to share. Take care, Lorrie

IF THE STAGE HAS TO BE CLOSED: LUNCH DATES ARE UNAVAILABLE ON THESE DAYS
There are several times during the year when the stage must be closed for a variety of reasons. When the stage is closed, lunch dates are unavailable. For instance, on Friday, October 4th, our stage will be closed due to setting up the cake walk area for the carnival. Later in October, we will administer the Iowa Tests to the 3rd and 5th graders. During a state testing window and due to testing security, only Fulton County employees are allowed to be in the building. Parents and visitors may visit the front office areas only. We will do our best to give you as much notice as possible, when the stage has to be closed and/or parents are allowed in the front areas only. If your child's birthday falls on one of the days, when the stage is closed, please consider having a lunch date on a different day. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
We will always list days, when the stage is closed, is the calendar at the beginning of this newsletter. 2019-20 Lunch Schedules by Homeroom Teacher
