April 20, 2020
I am very proud of our students and our staff at Kincaid for overcoming the obstacles related to school building closures as we moved to distance learning. Good things are happening in every classroom. In this week's edition of our Coyote Howler, I would like to share with you things that are taking place in our "on-Line" communities. I hope you enjoy these highlights.
Thank you parents and guardians for supporting your child through the process of learning from home. You are all incredible!
Coyote Strong--Good Things Happening
"I sure miss my sweet kids from school! We have been writing letters to each other as part of our online learning. This board just warms my heart and let’s me know it’s all good. We are all in this together. ❤️ Go Coyotes!"

Live Field Trip to Prince William Sound
A second field trip will be offered TODAY at 2:00 pm during Mrs. Zorea's Zoom Meeting. This will only be offered if the weather cooperates. Safety is always first when fishing Prince William Sound.

Check out these videos of our Kincaid Coyotes excited about their Rube Goldberg machine. We have an intermediate student and primary student showing off their projects. I bet this project is something that many of you could do at home too. To open the links, you must use your google drive.
Hey Kincaid! As we find ourselves having to spend more and more time online for a myriad of things, it is so important to get up and get moving. Here is a link to an article from the Mayo Clinic entitled What Are the Risks of Sitting Too Much?
Fortunately, there are all kinds of ways to give yourself brief breaks from sitting still and staring at the screen even when you don’t have time for a longer exercise session. Here is one from Hip Hop Health that is under 10 minutes. You can even do this one from your chair, but you won’t be sitting still. It’s cool, it’s fun, and it will make your core stronger. You’ll be tutting before you know it!
I hope you are all staying well and keeping your spirits up through this challenging time.
Greetings from Ms. Heather, your Kincaid Cybrarian!
Get ready for a fun virtual event that is starting next week. The Kincaid library will be hosting it's first ever Scholastic virtual book fair! This event will take place online April 27 - May 10. There are over 6,000 items to choose from; 25% of all monies earned will provide much-needed new books for our library; orders will be mailed directly to your home; shipping for book-only sales over $25 will be free. I am hoping this virtual book fair will bring some joy along with new reading materials into your home!
Have you seen our new Kincaid Library website? On it you will find upcoming events, resources for families, learning links for students, and extension activities for books I have been reading to students during Zoom meetings with classes. Our website can be found at https://sites.google.com/asdk12.net/kincaidlibrary/home . Check it out!
Finally, I am excited to announce that I have been joining Mrs. Zorea's principal check-ins each Monday and Friday. I have been sharing stories with families in attendance; I hope to see many of you there this coming week!
Wishing your family the best,
