Principal's Message
April 9, 2021
Hello Willink Families,
Once again, I hope all of you are doing well and staying healthy. I'm linking Dr. Gumina's letter from earlier this afternoon which contains some important details on the reopening plans and the prerequisites for us to hit our target date of 4/22.
I am also asking that all families complete your choices for New York State Testing if you have not already done so. CLICK HERE for the parent portal. Under the SURVEY tab, you will need to indicate if you would like your child to take the ELA, Math, or Science state tests. Surveys need to be completed by tomorrow. Thank you for completing these surveys as they are essential to helping us plan for the administration of the exams and to minimize disruption to the school day.
In today's "Coffee" with the principal (via google meet of course) I answered some questions that I'll share here as well that are Willink-specific and in addition to the superintendent's communication from today:
Q: Are there plans for any sort of 8th grade celebrations or activities especially since they didn’t get to go on their DC trip?
A: 8th grade event being planned for 6/17 (tentative date). Music, Student Council, and Yearbook are currently working with our administrative team on planning. We are also planning to have an 8th grade car parade - date TBD.
Q: How will lunch be structured to be as safe as possible?
A: Students will remain 6 feet apart and will only be unmasked while seated and eating. Additional space will be utilized for meals if needed to ensure that this space can be maintained.
As we head into the weekend, I'd also like to congratulate our music families, students, and teachers on being recognized with the Merit Award by the NAMM foundation. The excellent musical programs in our district have continued to persevere through the pandemic with new and innovative ways for teaching, learning and performing music. BRAVO!
Have a nice weekend,
Brian.
