JROB Dugout News October 2-6
#memorablemeaningfulandmeasurable
Team Robinson has the "eye of the tiger" in working toward meeting ............... School and Individual Student GOALS
Classrooms structures are being cemented and focused learning intentions set the stage for student success. It is October and it's time for informal walkthroughs w/feedback notes from Miller and Spenker. Looking forward to being in classrooms each day.
Teacher and Student Clarity with Daily Learning Intentions
As discussed/shared at staff collaboration meetings; it is imperative students know what they are learning, why they are learning and how they will know if they have met the daily target. Therefore, students should be able to articulate their days learning.
Please note we are all in the learning and practicing stage for implementation for consistent clarity of daily learning intentions. It is expected that the core content areas: Reading/ELA, Writing, Math and elective content areas should have learning intentions each day.

Grade Level Meetings: October 4, 11, & 18
To support teacher efficacy and coherence our site's collaboration meeting schedule incorporates more grade level or department meetings time. Meetings will include ample opportunities for collaboration and discussion on content implementation, instructional best practices and data analysis around student learning outcomes to meet identified outcomes in grade level action plans.
As previously discussed, one part of our grade level collaboration will center on a school wide focus to 21st century skills CCSS development in students ability to explain their thinking and understanding across content areas in writing. One part of our meetings will include planning the content (History/Science), use of the PHAT or shared writing, extended exit tickets and data analysis with rubric.
Lastly, each meeting your grade level will complete a google form to record your grade level's meeting collaboration notes.
Guidelines for Success...continues with daily implementation of STOIC Structures
The embedded video link is a model example of Ms. Henry's class implementing one component of STOIC: "STRUCTURE". Some noticings:
- Students had (3) stopping points on the way to their destination.
- Ms. Henry was monitoring the class from behind.
- Selected students received praise for following expectations.
- Ms. Henry remained with the class until there was a transfer of supervision.

How MIndfulness Changes your Brain
You may think of mindfulness as one of those far-out-there trends, but it’s been around since antiquity for good reason. Science has proven, beyond any doubt, that a steady practice of mindfulness induces real beneficial changes in the brain.
Ms. Love and other Team Robinson members are learning and understanding about mindfulness practices every Monday after school.
