Meet the Principal!
I’m so excited to start another school year as your principal, and look forward to what this year has in store for us as we work together to make a difference in the lives of our students. Proctor staff shares a deep passion for education, and looks forward in partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality educational experience.
A bit about myself, I’ve lived in Castro Valley for more than 25 years. I’m a wife and mother of two teenagers who all attend CV schools, and one college student. Before becoming an administrator, I’ve served in a variety of teaching, educational leadership and administrative roles over the past 21 years, and feel privileged to now serve the community I live in!
My mission as your principal is to provide leadership that will facilitate a safe and inclusive school environment that provides differentiated instruction that meets the needs of each student, focusing on the whole child. Our educational programs are academically challenging, engaging each student by linking curriculum to previous knowledge and experience, but also be exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas.
Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners. It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society, through a close and collegial partnership with Proctor staff and our parent community.
I will be working closely with our teachers, classified staff, and school community to guarantee that all of our scholars are intellectually challenged and have access to the social and emotional supports critical to students during their time at Proctor.
I appreciate the opportunity to continue serving the Proctor families in this role! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.

Before School Morning Procedures
Students are not to be dropped off before 7:45 a.m. unless students are participating in the Before School Breakfast program. They will be able to have supervised play on the lower playground until the first bell.
At 8:05, students will be expected to freeze, and "touch" the ground. Teachers will first dismiss the 4th-5th grade students to be excused to WALK to their classrooms and line-up at their classroom door. Then, 1st - 3rd graders to line up as they do for all other recesses throughout the day. Our goal is to get students in their classroom closest to 8:10 to begin their instructional day.
With this transition, we are asking for your assistance, which will allow for us to implement these morning procedures. Please remain off the playground area, no closer than the breezeway. For safety purposes, we need to keep non-employee adults separated from our student population during this time. Yes, this will be a shift in school culture, but the safety of our students is our top priority, which is something we all share!
We are asking that all parents exit the school grounds before 8:30 AM unless you are signed in to volunteer on the campus. This will help us secure the campus for the instructional day.
Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures and Reminders!
Grades 1-5
Drop-Off: Do not park and leave your car in the loading or fire zone areas. Students must wait on the playground or in the MPR (breakfast) before the 1st bell. All parents are welcome to walk their child to their homeroom door, however, to help with traffic flow, we highly encourage parents of students in grades 2-5 to drop their students off at either parking lot roundabouts. Parents must be off campus or sign in at the main office by 8:30 am. Gates will be locked from 8:30 am until 10 minutes before dismissal.
Pick-Up: Do not park and leave your car in the loading or fire zone areas. All Gates will be unlocked 10 minutes before the end of the day. Parents are welcomed on campus at this time without signing into the main office. For parents who wish to remain in the car, students will be supervised at both roundabout parking lot pick-ups for 20 minutes after the bell and will then be escorted to the main office.
After-School Program Pick-up: Students who are being picked up by an outside company will leave from the upper parking lot. All District transportation will also use this lot for picking up Special Day Students.
Parking Lot Etiquette
Traffic during drop-off and pick-up can be congested and stressful. To ensure the safest and calmest environment for pick-up, please remember to slow down and be kind, patient, and respectful to all staff, volunteer, and student traffic patrol members.
Adult Traffic Safety Rules
Obey the 5 MPH speed limit.
Put your cell phone down.
NO PARKING in the Staff parking spots at any time from 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m and during events when full staff is present (Open House, B2SN, etc..). Staff parking spots are labeled "Staff" in our main lot.
Pull all the way forward, as far as you can, to the front of the loading zone to make room for others behind you.
Do not park and leave your car in the loading or fire zone areas.
Load and unload students at a curb loading zone only.
Be patient and courteous, the traffic congestion lasts for only 5 - 10 minutes.
Arrive to school around 7:55 a.m. - 8:05 a.m. and just after 2:45 to avoid the traffic problems.
Never instruct your child to cross traffic or go out into the parking lot to enter your car.10.
You must be at the curb for loading and unloading children.
NOTE: There will be at least 2 teachers supervising the parking lots. Follow their directives and never argue with or ignore them. Failure to do so will result in a report to the California Highway Patrol, or a banning of using the school parking lots for drop-off or pick-up.

At Proctor, we’re excited to start this new year with your students. There are many changes to the Proctor campus due to Measure G, many of which you may have noticed during walk-through registration:
We now have 5 portables on our upper field that are in use. Ms.Winfrey (1st), Ms. Leonardo (1st), Ms. Davis (1st), Ms. Paxman (2nd), and Ms. Birusingh (2nd), will be teaching there while their rooms are being renovated.
As the year goes on...
We’ll be adding more security cameras & upgrading our IT.
All classrooms will have HVAC upgraded/added
Several teachers may switch rooms at winter break, stay tuned for updates.
We will be holding multiple Measure G Community Meetings throughout the year to provide the community with updates and information, and to gather input and feedback about Measure G projects.

Thank you for your flexibility and patience during this transitional time!
Attendance and Independent Study Reminders!
Please make sure to read the most updated information on Attendance in our student handbook under the Attendance section. It is incredibly important that students come to school and arrive on time to ensure they learn the necessary curriculum and develop positive habits. Please do your best to schedule all appointments for your child after school the instructional day.
Please note that absences due to vacation are considered unexcused absences and cause your child to miss valuable instructional time. Education Code requires that students in school 180 days unless they are ill or are on short term independent study due to extenuating circumstances. The first two weeks of school, important routines and procedures are shared with students to ensure a smooth transition to a new grade. During the first 10 days and last 15 days of the school year, students who are absent from school for extended periods of time cannot complete school work using Independent Study. Also, Independent Studies cannot be longer than 10 days. Please refer to the updated board policy on independent study.
Please also note that extended unexcused absences of three days or more are referred to the School Attendance Review Team (SART).
