Your WestWood PTC Update

June 2018 ~ {H.A.G.S.} ~ Have a great summer!!!

WHAT A GREAT YEAR!!!

Jessica and Amy had a great opportunity to present our "PTC Year in Review" at a recent staff meeting - and it was so fun to look back at what a great year we had! From taping teachers to the wall, silly-spraying Mrs. Zwolenski, winning prizes at the big carnival, serving up big dinners for the staff, and watching our children grow in so many ways! Truly awesome!

Another great THANK YOU to all of our wonderful WestWood families who have supported students, teachers, staff, and the PTC. THANK YOU!

The PTC Board has some graduates and retirees! Thank you to our President Tony Hauschildt and Secretary Gina Hendrickson for ALL of the effort and accomplishments this year! Time well spent!

Twins Day brought some baseball fun and smiles to WestWood families this month! Thank you to Adrienne Kelsey for organizing!

The School Store has taught some students how to be wise customers and spend some change! Thank you to Jen Knox and Jessie Hawley for running this show all year!

Help WestWood PTC this summer! Please save your box tops, save your milk moola caps, and use AmazonSmile for your online shopping!

MusicFest volunteers slots are still available - enjoy the music FREE! And MusicFest Tickets are still for sale! See info below.

ALREADY THINKING ABOUT NEXT YEAR!

The PTC will be welcoming two new faces to the board - hooray for Rachel Carlson and Nichole Meyer! {thank you!} We are of course looking ahead to the new year and will be making plans and transitioning things to new volunteers over the summer months. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you would be interested and willing to help with a PTC cause! --- Upcoming Events ---

Great Start to Kindergarten - August 7 and 9

Each summer, WestWood invites the incoming kindergarteners in to meet with a teacher for an assessment. During this time, the PTC welcomes the new families. We will need volunteers to help at our PTC table - watch for the Sign Up Genius email for August 7 and August 9th. Thanks for your help!

DID YOU KNOW?

Each year, the WestWood PTC makes a donation to the Friends of Wolf Ridge. This year, our donation, along with those from other Prior Lake Savage PTC groups, helped 81 students in our district attend Wolf Ridge who may not have otherwise had the opportunity. Thanks for helping make this possible!

**NEW** Mabel's Labels partnership!

In an effort to reduce the massive Lost & Found collection at WestWood, the PTC is partnering with Mabel's Labels to help you track your child's things. They offer STICK ON CLOTHING LABELS - how convenient is that? Waterproof! (Iron-on labels are also available.)

To participate,

  1. Go to the Mabel's Labels Campaigns page at campaigns.mabelslabels.com/campaigns.mabelslabels.com
  2. Select "WestWood PTC (Prior Lake)" from the drop-down
  3. Click "Click here to buy" to view the shopping options.

All purchases result in a credit to the PTC at no additional cost to you, similar to our restaurant nights. Great idea for summer camps and activities too! Thanks for your support and good luck tracking your gear.

MusicFest at Lakefront

MusicFest is one of the largest outdoor music festivals in the metro area of the Twin Cities. Featuring two nights of live music, MusicFest entertains AND benefits our community.

Proceeds benefit the Prior Lake Rotary Foundation, supporting educational, humanitarian and environmental activities in the Prior Lake community, nationally, and worldwide. Proceeds from the event are also shared with non-profit partners (like us!). Concert nights are July 13th and 14th, 2018. Plan some fun summer events NOW!

Thank you for your support of this Prior Lake Rotary event and the WestWood PTC.

PTC Meetings

All are welcome! PTC Meetings are usually held the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 in the WestWood Media Center. Our FINAL meeting is Wednesday, June 6th at 6:30. Hope to see you there! (And childcare is available too!)

Here is a link to our upcoming meeting dates. Past meeting minutes are available on our website too.

Show your support!

Join us for Restaurant Nights! Many local restaurants have offered a percentage of sales on "WestWood PTC" night - what a fabulous way to raise funds for our many grants and programs!

Online shopping? Please use https://smile.amazon.com (and select WestWood Parent-Teacher-Child Association) to earn money for the PTC at NO COST to you! More info is available on our website.

Box Top Collection Buckets are waiting for you! Please save your Box Tops and you can earn free restaurant meal certificates. Turn in 25 box tops on your collection sheet in your classroom bucket. Box Tops dividends go directly to WestWood Elementary!

Milk Moola is Kwik Trip's program of collecting cap or bag tops from Kwik Trip and Kwik Star's Nature's Touch products. Similar to box tops, you save them, wash them, and send them to school with your child and PTC turns them into CASH - like magic! There is a collection box in the front lobby for Milk Moola and box tops.

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
