COLLABORATION: In Ms. Glaze and Ms. Troutman's rooms, teams worked together to create and revise an invention made from recycled supplies.
CREATIVITY: Ms. Glass's fourth graders designed Moony Tunes- a comic based on their solar system unit. The art room has been a happy mess as Ms Mortimer began her Empty Bowls clay unit.
CRITICAL THINKING: Third graders are learning how to explain their math thinking by using the RAFT strategy. In the gym, classes are beginning the FItness Gram program and will set goals by analyzing their performance.
PERSONALIZED LEARNING- what I need, when and how I need it
PERSONAL LEARNING PATHS: Students in 4th, 2nd, and 1st are using Math Prescriptions, a model providing specific tasks related to areas of weakness and readiness. Both 4th and 5th also follow learning maps in ELA/SS in order to allow for student choice in the way their content is delivered and assessed.
STUDENT CONFERENCING: All grades are wrapping up their first round of conferencing. This quarter's focus was on Ownership- identifying strengths and areas of growth in work habits and academics. Please ask your child about their goals and plan to visit Student Exhibition Night to see how self-set goals and tracking is so successful.
