Learning Location for 2nd Semester: Please Complete the Brief Survey

Northside families will be asked to complete a survey beginning Nov. 16 to indicate which learning model they choose for the third grading period or third quarter (Jan. 4-March 19). As with both previous surveys, the two options for students include in-person or virtual learning.

An email containing the link to the survey was sent to parents the morning of Nov. 16 and families will have until Nov. 29 to make their selection. All families will need to make a selection using the survey including those who wish to remain in their current learning model.

Semester Exams: December 14th -18th

Semester exams are a great opportunity to show mastery and increase grades for students. Help us support our Rams for the next few weeks and during exam week!

An exam schedule will be released after Thanksgiving Break.

Attendance Support

Here is a quick video showing how to check your child’s grades and attendance in HAC. Students can have no more than 8 absences per class. Reach out to the teacher to recover any absences your child may have.

In-Person Support

While many students have adapted well to the virtual learning environment, others have not. In some cases, parents are seeing lower than expected grades, lack of engagement, or even social and emotional concerns from their child. Campus staff, too, recognize that for some students a virtual learning model is not ideal and could be keeping students from being successful. Campuses have been reaching out to parents to share these concerns and to offer support systems including inviting students back to in-person learning.

Recently, the Texas Education Agency provided local districts discretion to bring virtual learners back to school for in-person learning as a means of addressing poor academic performance or excessive absences. In Northside, campuses have been proactive in addressing these same issues and have been working to bring back struggling students.

Parents who notice lower or failing grades, increased absences, lack of engagement, or other signs of struggles with their child are asked to reach out to school staff for support.
