Respect is an attitude of caring about people and treating them with dignity. Respect is valuing ourselves and others. We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy.

Christmas Family Prayer

Loving God,

In this Christmas season we thank you for the great joy you have sent us in the birth of Jesus. Help us to be the voice and hands of the angel sharing Jesus with one another this Christmas season.

In Your name, we pray,

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

As I write the final newsletter for 2020, I reflect on a year that has been like no other. Advent is a time of reflection and reminds us that we will soon be with family, celebrating Christmas. This time of the year should also give us hope for the future. This year my reflection during Advent will be around how grateful I am. This year has thrown us all many challenges that we as a community have worked through together. I wish to define 2020 as a year of opportunity. I am extremely grateful for the wonderful people I walk my life with. I count my blessings that I landed at Orana five years ago, that I have shared the joys and challenges of a community seeking to raise fine young humans. The resourcefulness of staff, families and students alike throughout this COVID-19 impacted year has astounded me. This year has taught me to re-focus my energies and know that life can take a u-turn at any given moment. This has inspired me to take chances and to live my life to the absolute fullest. I stuck my neck out and aspired to new things, which has lead me to this being my final day with students of Orana. Thank you to the Orana family for providing me with five years of pure joy.

I hope for every family that you take time this Christmas to count your blessings. For some of us, this will be difficult, as 2020 has not been the year of hope for them. My thoughts and prayers are with those who may be struggling. On Christmas Day I will say a special intention for all members of the Orana family that I have been so blessed to be a part of for the past five years.

This year we bid a sad farewell to Mrs Erin Leech, Mrs Helen Morcombe, Mrs Susannah Naim, Mrs Santa Ruffo, Mr Jock McCardle and Mis Rachel Gardner. We thank them for their dedicated service and devotion to the Orana community. The list of their contributions is endless. The community of Orana thanks them for their dedication to the community.

This morning the school spent time to gather reflecting on the contributions of them all and a few tears were shed! Thank you to Mrs Perrigo and Mrs Green for coordinating this event.

YEAR SIX GRADUATION - written by Matilda, Miranda, Dylan and Dwij

The last week of term 4 has been both crazy and fun for the year six's. It all started with silly socks on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday was full of rehearsals for the Graduation Mass and Assembly. Thursday was the big day and it came by so fast. It was a very emotional day for the year six's, they were nervous and excited all at the same time. The dance at the Graduation Assembly was a huge hit and everyone enjoyed it. When the sun started going down there was the Graduation dinner, held in the quad. The week ended with a fun day held especially for the year six cohort. The fun day was filled with water=slides, watermelon, subway and soft drinks. We thank everyone who contributed to helping the year six group have an amazing last week. We will never forget our time at Orana.

"Thank you!"

A special Sensory Room 'Creation of a Room' video will be shared next week with the Orana community. For now, I wish to thank the staff committee who worked so hard to bring this to life, Mrs Godsall, Mrs Cottier, Mrs Payne, Miss Collins, Mrs Tormay, Mrs Warburton, Mrs Leech and Miss Purio. Also the families who supported us by lending a helping hand over our busy bee weekend, thank you to Clarissa and Francois Van Der Heijden, Louise Palumbo, Joanne Crea, Tristan Croft, Cory O'Kane and his extended family. A special thank you to Stephen Pettit and Lachlan Pettit who assisted in building the sound proof wall. Also to Tamer Messeha who provided the materials for the dividing wall. We are eternally grateful for your efforts.

Keep your eye out for the Sensory Room video.
