Holiday Sharing at Pleasantdale Middle School

Please consider giving to the holiday sharing project at the middle school. There are gift ideas on bulletin boards in each of the academic hallways. If interested in participating, encourage your child to bring take the request off of the bulletin board, write their name on one of the tabs and leave it in the envelope at the board, and bring home the other ticket with the item on it.

This year, we are expanding our request to include any cash or gift card donations (check can be made out to Pleasantdale Middle School) that will be collected and distributed to local families in need. Donations can be dropped off now until December 14 in the main office.

Let's show our neighbors in need just how generous we can be by supporting the holiday sharing this year!

PTO Fun Run a Great Success!

The middle school students had so much fun participating in the PTO fun run (and other fitness activities) on Friday! Thank you to all who contributed. Contributions can still be made to the PTO. Thank you also to our wonderful PE teachers, Mr. Dreher, Mrs. Truesdale, and Ms. Newberry for helping make this event a success with the kids! Many students I spoke with said it was a really fun day in PE class!

This Wednesday (12/5) is a Half-Day For Students!

This Wednesday, December 5th is an AM half-day for the students from 8:20 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The buses will run as usual. We will not serve any food for lunches and we will run a shortened schedule (see below). This half-day is a staff in-service half-day. The entire school calendar for the year can be found near the top of our district website or here.

Make Up Day Set for Monday, April 22, 2019

Due to the forward thinking of our District 107 Calendar Committee and the approval of our Board of Education, this year's school calendar had built-in to it the date(s) of snow day(s) should they be needed.

With this said, the make up day for the snow day we just had is Monday, April 22, 2019. Please note that this is still a 3-day weekend for students as Friday, April 19, 2019 is a non-attendance day.

Metra Safety Poster and Essay Contest

Metra Safety Poster and Essay Contest - For the 13th straight year, Metra asked the region's students to illustrate through posters or essays the importance of safe behaviors near railroad tracks and rail crossings. The theme for the 2018-2019 school year: “Use Your Senses" emphasizes the importance of being aware and using all your senses -- including common sense -- when around trains and railroad tracks. The contest is open to all students in grades K through 12 living or attending school in Metra’s six-county service area: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will. The deadline for all entries is Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019. Information on the winners of the 2017-2018 contest can be found here.

Tiger Tipline

While it is always best to talk directly to a staff member, we understand that sometimes this can be uncomfortable or difficult for students or parents. At Pleasantdale Middle School, we offer the Tiger Tipline as an anonymous tool for reporting unsafe, uncomfortable, or unkind behaviors and situations. We explicitly teach the students that if they ever see something or hear something that makes them feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or is unkind, either online or in person, they should tell a “trusted adult” which could be parents, school personnel, or other adults in their lives. The Tiger Tipline can be accessed here and we will post the link in Schoology and create a shortcut to the link on the student devices for easy access.

Dates for the Year

If you are like me, you want to know the dates for the year as far in advance as possible. As long as you understand that something may change due to unforeseen circumstances, I’d like to provide you access to the dates we’ve planned for the year (many of which are in the paper calendar you received in the mail). To access the middle school calendar dates, please click here.
